This is the first installment of CTS Special News [Churches by Our Side].
We visit local churches that, while not boasting grand scale or a large congregation, love their neighbors and live out the Gospel in the places God has entrusted to them. It is easy to first picture a small church plant or a rural church as being overwhelming and difficult. However, there is a church that shatters these prejudices with joy. Reporter Park Ji-yang introduces Jeju Soran Church, which continues a happy ministry with its congregation in a small rural village in Seogwipo.

If you follow the path between tangerine orchards and stone walls, you will find a small container chapel on one side of the village. This is Jeju Soran Church.
Although the church is small in size, it is by no means small within the village. Yongheung Village always invites Pastor Jeong Ji-seong as a distinguished guest whenever a village event is held. This trust is built over time since the church was founded in 2020, as the pastor and his wife have taken the initiative to greet their neighbors and share their daily lives.

"When I first settled in and greeted and visited people, they welcomed me warmly and rejoiced. They told me they were grateful that I approached them first, unlike people from the mainland," said Pastor Jeong. "Every year, we naturally share the Gospel by hosting village feasts and meals for the village elders."

On Wednesday mornings, the sound of mothers singing hymns fills the sanctuary. What began last year as a meditation group, the 'Worship for Mothers,' has now become a precious time where mothers lay down the weight of their day and gain new strength through the Word and praise.
On Sundays, the pulpit is decorated with wildflowers blooming around the church, and the pastor and his wife's three-year-old daughter worships alongside her mother. After the service, the table is set with food handmade by the congregation, followed by joyful fellowship.

I feel like I can see the things God gives a little more clearly. Within this small church, I find myself focusing on each and every thing given to me, seeking God's will for it, and holding onto it as I move forward—all that time allows me to focus deeply on God. So, I am truly grateful and happy.

Pastor's Wife Yoon Hanna did not just worry about the circumstances of the small church. At the end of last year, to help with the church's finances, she utilized her artistic talent to create a Bible meditation calendar, and donated all the proceeds to the church. Her artistic activities, which began with this calendar and started as 'Eintova,' have expanded into stationery and publishing.

It was a small desire to offer calendars as a church revenue-generating project to God as the first fruits. We started with that heart and have come this far. Although we cannot predict God's work, I believe that when we offer our obedience today, God will surely use that heart and accomplish even greater things.

I hope our church becomes a place used by God to enjoy the joy He gives. Above all, the most important thing is for the souls in the village to consistently hear the Gospel and eventually come into the Gospel.
