Tip- get a car wash sponge 🧽 and make a sandwich (sponge on bottom, then bait, then the hoop mesh on top) the mesh will form to your bait better. No helping hands needed with scale pattern then. Hope this helps 👊🏻

My wife is staring at me as im watching your videos. She knows im about to go crazy on this. Lure turned out awesome!!!

Another awesome video.  Have learned a lot and have another new hobby now!!    Very much looking forward to the clear coating video using the two-part epoxy you discuss.

Great video, You are a true master.

That was a great idea and it worked well, thank you to you wife (Mrs.Baker)👏👏😃

Man, that is a very simple but very nice looking bait

I would love to see more work with the hoops. Seems like a great idea.

When you do the sides: lay it on a thick rag or a soft sponge then use the hoop.  Also, I can’t tell which way you had the hoop turned, but get use to having the side of the hoop the net comes out of down on the bait.  It works better when you have to roll the netting and also helps when painting a flatter bait.

Nice tip

I just got into painting baits, and I’ll take any ideas that work ! Thanks Zac !

Hi dude I’ve been learning a lot from you recently in my new lure making hobby. This is another great tip that I will be making soon so thank you.  I have a tip for you however, if you make 2 frames the same shape and size as a large sponge, you can put mesh in one and put the sponge in the other. Then if you also attach a thin sheet of wood or perspex to the back of the other (underneath the sponge) you can place the two frames together with your lure and sponge inside and then clamp them together. This way you won’t have to do the rolling technique you did because you can lock the mesh down both ends of the lure securing the lure and mesh in place. Also it will prevent any movement of the mesh.

Thanks for the ideas and tips.  Appreciate you taking the time to make the video!

Beautiful as always! I need to get me a hoop. I struggled a little on that shad bait I sent you a picture of. This would make it 10x easier!

Nice bait color.  I also paint bigger musky lures so I have a 12” hoop with netting with larger holes along with this size

As a former cross stitcher, lay the material on top of the smaller hoop, open up the larger hoop and lay it on top, pressing down and tighten up the thumb screw.

Nice 👍

Im using the Loop since i do airbrush...IT IS the best method to get a good pattern!!!

Awesome!!

Couple extra things I do.  You can get two of the same size hoops.  Put identical mesh in each side.  Put a hoop on each side of the lure and hold them together with some type of binder clips.  Then you can flip the bait over without sliding the fabric out of place.  Works well if you’re using multiple colors.

These hoops come in larger sizes.  If you get bigger ones you can put one type of fabric in one half and another fabric in the other half to get double duty from each set.  That said, they’re not all that expensive

If the lure is small and you use a large hoop the lure may want to move.  You can put a couple or three regular steel washers on one side and magnets on the other side to pinch the lure in place.  Or, use florist wire and run it through both sides of the mesh and hook hangers to trap the lure in place.  Just make a U out of the wire and a quick twist will hold everything in place

Nice work  a mate of mine here in Australia  put me onto those rings they are very handy  to use14:27
