Will This Tire Trick Make Me Faster?

SuperDuperSouth

5,852 views

In this video, I finally break down my process with Vega karting tires and give away some of the secrets that have helped me find speed on the track.
This is mostly a shop video where I go in-depth on how I approach tire prep, what actually matters, and what doesn’t. If you’re trying to get faster on Vega tires, this one’s for you.
I also make a few front-end adjustments to the go-kart and finish the video off with some on-track racing to see how everything works together.
If you’re serious about getting faster in dirt kart racing, pay attention… there’s some real game in this one.

Can you do a video on driving techniques?

You should go to Cochran Motor Speedway Kart Track and run maxxis treads

Heat them up in a hot box for 10 mins and they mount super easy. I personally believe the Yellow Vega or White Maxxis is the easiest tire for Saturday night racing.

Shortening the wheelbase slows down how quickly the kart “jacks” weight. A wider front tire increases jacking force, lifting the left rear more. Ideally, you want the left rear tire to come off the track slightly.

With a shorter wheelbase, the left rear tends to stay down and drag on the dirt, which makes the kart push and steer straighter instead of rotating.

What do you feel is the most UNDER-talked about thing in kart racing?

@pyromanic001 5 months ago

I used to kart race in early 2000's. When vega's dropped in 2006 i found a crazy tire program. We were 4/10th faster than everyone else. Very easy program nobody on dirt tracks will know what hit them. If you need help DM me.

You ever “accidently” have your body cut a convenient groove on the outer edge of the slick tread…. Lol

Wow am I the first comment? Lol nice! I’ll stick to maxxis, whites to be exact, close to a yellow Vega. And around the 06-2010 years one set of EL tires would last almost a year.

Never ran a Maxxis or reaper. We are in Burris country. I definitely prefer the yellow Vega. However they are a royal paint in the ass to mount and seat. Best of luck to you on your next race.

… could that insta be mounted on something, like, made of materials that harpoons arent made from…? What about like a pex pipe somehow..? If someone hits that it would just fold over… maybe the footage would be worse..? I dunno….
