I completely transformed my granddaughter’s bedroom from bright green walls and old carpet into a fresh, updated space with new flooring, a custom beadboard feature wall, refinished trim and a whole new color palette.

For this DIY bedroom makeover, I traveled to Oklahoma and took the room all the way from tear-out to the final reveal. I removed the carpet, refinished and reused the original baseboards, built the beadboard feature wall from scratch, repaired and refinished the door and trim, painted the room, installed new LVP flooring and finished everything off with a new transition strip.

The feature wall is painted Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel in Rocky River, and the remaining walls are Sherwin-Williams Duration Home Satin in Grey Mist. I also used Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel in white for the door, baseboards and trim.

Along the way, I’m sharing some of the methods and tools I use—including my trim puller technique for removing baseboards without tearing up the walls, my outlet-cutout trick for beadboard, the HomeRight Super Finish Max paint sprayer, DeWalt multi-tool and Roberts Pro Flooring Installation Kit.
