There is something extremely wrong about soup in a square vessel. Soup is round  😆

Watching this from Ghana and smiling through. Ayekoo!

The joke about the LGBTeaspoon caught me so off guard I laughed and scared my rabbit

this and your surstömming video are both really excellent example of how to present a foreign (to you and the majority of your viewership) recipe without exoticising or sensationalising how different it is for the entertainment factor. your comparisons are always spot on for contextualising the ingredient (fufu as a bulk staple carb e.g. potatoes, surstromming as a strong preserve spread e.g. marmite, palm fruit concentrate as a savoury fruit flavour e.g. tomatoes) and your upfront about what is different and similar to things you've had before. I wish more youtubers gave such exact undramatic descriptions as you, expecialy when trying dishes from other cultures.

Good on ya for admitting to a mistake and giving something a fair shake the second time. That’s a rare quality.

my jaw dropped when you said 7 YEARS AGO?! man!!!  time sure has flew past wth

>" my spice level is below the global average"
> adds 3 scotch bonnets to the soup
Ohhh boy.
Real talk though, hats off to you sit, that looks delicious!!

Weird Redemption in a Can

I saw you this week, in the supermarket, I apologise for my over enthusiastic 'Hello !' I instantly realised my error, you have no idea who I am :)  thankyou for your hard work on this channel. you feel like a friend :)

"If this is too much waffle"...Mike, most of us come here FOR the waffle! Lol, never change good Sir. This kind of oddball opening is a favorite of mine, I might never actually get to try these weird and wild things in cans, but vicariously thru YOU, I get to experience it. I got to see a great portion of the world in my younger years during my time in the Army and discovering "local" dishes was awesome (mostly) but there were times I regretted my foolish enthusiasm, though the locals got some good laughs out of it.

Atomic Shrimp accidentally referencing JoJo's bizarre adventure in the thumbnail, is not a thing, I had on my list this year.

I’m Nigerian (like Babatunde) and I love cooking with palm oil. Another palm nut soup you can try that’s similar to this is a Nigerian soup called Banga soup. Very similar flavor profile.

Honestly, I can’t blame you for not risking what you thought was mould. Bloomed fat can often look like mould to the uninitiated. I’ve seen people unfamiliar with chocolate freak out and refuse to eat a bit of chocolate with bloomed fat before as well. Which I imagine looked just as odd to me as your first video did to those who are familiar with this.

Like you say, maybe you wouldn’t have published it now, maybe you would’ve gone to research and then come back, but I really can’t blame you for feeling sick and not being up to it while you still had a day job.

That said I really respect your going back to address this respectfully, just as you did a great job on Surströmming.

When you compared these to dates, it blew my mind in the best way! (I love dates.)

That’s a really cute pepper grinder as well, oh gosh. That handle looks much easier than the orb you often get.

14:32 I think Babatunde would be proud of this attempt to rectify past mistakes with this common African and Asian ingredient.

1:48 IMO the thing that makes ignorance innocent rather than malicious is the effort one makes to rectify it once it has been pointed out 😁

My Nigerian flatmate cooked a banquet for his fellow students, all of it delicious, some surprisingly hot (the rice was the hottest thing on the table, which came as some surprise).  The hardest part was trying to get the knack of forming the white stodge into a one-time-use spoon, maybe babatunde should do a tutorial on this...👍 ( I think my flatmate made a stiff porridge from rice flour out of necessity, it was the 80s after all)

The respect and care you showed for this is so refreshing in this world.

The catchphrase of my favorite Jamaican cooking show, "Feed and Teach" is: "Dry thyme is a scam."

Pish posh, as if we want to skip your "waffle." I'm here for it.

"Oil Be Back" is a legendary pun, no irony. Well done, sir!
