Ernie's voice...like velvet

… Born in 81, maybe only went to Tiger Stadium less than 20 times but this brings intense emotions to me it knocks me back and the feeling rushes in. Earnie. His voice. That voice i always remember in the background, at home, in the car, at my grandparents, and so on. It feels sad knowing they tore it down. The memories will never fade and we all know life moves on but it’s a melancholy feeling that it’s gone. And that kids will never experience that feeling, that place, or hear Ernie’s voice in real time.

Excellent documentary. As a young boy growing up in Toronto, used to listen to Ernie Harwell call Tiger games on the radio before the Blue Jays took flight. Even if you’re not a Tigers fan, one can’t help but marvel at this, one of the great stadiums in baseball history. Was fortunate enough to see many games at Michigan and Trumbull during my summer in Windsor, Ontario. Have also had the pleasure of attending games at Comerica, a beautiful facility, but it’s hard to beat the feeling you would get from taking in the atmosphere and history in one of the old jewel box ballparks.

Tiger Stadium.. I well up with tears when I think of beautiful Tiger Stadium. My Dad took me to so many games.. including THE big one in '84. And I'll never forget those summer days in Windsor listening to Ernie Harwell on the radio in the backyard. I miss that place hard. Thanks Dad.  He's gone now but we are watching this awesome '24 run together. Fans forever. Bless You Boys

GOD...! How I miss Tiger Stadium!!! Along with watching many games ON SITE with the Tigers and Lions, I also volunteered during bat / ball day, back in the day. EXCELLENT memories.

Tiger Stadium was great and I have great memories of from my childhood.  But a stadium is more then brick, mortar and steele.  And we've had great memories at Comerica Park, and you can't match magic we've had there these past two months.  I can't wait until next Wednesday to make more memories!

My dad went to this old house in 1984 the year the last time the tigers won it all it’s sad to say goodbye to it after a quarter of a century ago in 1999 tiger stadium will be a place in history for my father for years to come
Let’s win another World Series in 2024 40 years later please
Go mighty mighty tigers 🐅 🐯

Went to many games here. My second date with my now wife was a Tigers game here. Miss the old park

Well this looks better than the VHS I bought 25 years ago.

Al Kaline... I remember the guy as I was alive at the time. A GREAT ball player and bought a house down from where I used to live in Bloomfield Hills, MI back in the 60's.

My memories of my childhood and there were many of this "old majestic girl" can not be erased! From watching the Detroit Lions on a cold winters day in a cold seat in left field to the Tigers beginning in the early 60's  to 1999. It was a time of innocence with family or Little League teammates. Memories of my mother going over the railing near the pitching mound to talk to Fred Gladding warming up to pitch, who she knew, but was kindly escorted back over the railing by a police officer. To see all the "greats of the game" over time and many "Bat days." I miss that stadium too this day and hearing Ernie calling the games on the transistor radio. I hope there's another Tigers Stadium on the other side when it's my time! Thank you for this fabulous video!         Semper Fidelis!

Just thinking about walking up those stairs with my Dad talking about Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg, Al Kaline gives me the chills.

I can't believe I'm tearing up watching This. Tiger stadium was Like heaven on earth❤❤❤

I remember Harry Heilman broadcasting away games from his studio in Detroit and reading the action on the field via a tickertape machine at the away game field.

Born in 1993. I’d do anything to have been able to of enjoyed a game at the corner

Please continue posting old videos like this!

Jim, I gurantee you will love this, especially hearing Ernie's voice!!

Lots of good memories on that corner.  I know I have this on a VHS tape buried somewhere in the house! lol  Now I can watch it anytime.  Thanks WDIV!

Ran home from school every day to  watch the game.

Twins fan here. I’ll remember the  1987 playoffs there.
