Voyager 1 has been on its journey for almost 50 years. It's now over 25 billion kilometers from Earth and will reach its "light-day" distance this November. Many fear it will be destroyed by a collision with rocks or space dust, but calculations show that space is so empty that the chance of a collision is virtually zero.
