Wasn't expecting this when I got home from groceries, Design & invention and Richard Williams Animators survival kit are among the most respected books I own so seeing you delve into this is appreciated.

i love his approach in avoiding the stress of trying too hard to get it right the first try or as close as possible to the reference, instead its to show the essence of the photo and to communicate it better

I would absolutely love to see more Michael Hampton on here! I dig his book so so much! Got a lot of use out of it and the amount of stuff put into it is more than i could ask for

9:34 💀💀
tysm for then lesson, i have the book already and i must say no matter how many videos i watch or how many books i read , this one is the best.

I wanna see more from him please. It's great to see gesture being taught with such as slow and methodical method, considering it's usually taught the same way it's made, quickly (at least how it was taught to me).

I would like to see Michael teach more on this channel 12:34

I love S. Michael Hampton's channel and even thought the S in the name meant 'Sir.' I always have his gesture videos on whenever I'm having trouble with figure drawing. They're easy on the eyes and convenient to follow.

How come this video only have 80 comments? this was amazing

@julliettecarignan8563 7 months ago

I love this because of Michael's interest in expression (vs. copying what's there) and making the most of rhythms (I'd like to see more on that) and abstraction at least while conceptualizing. It's aligned with a primary goal of being less "slavish to the source."

Just few minutes and so valuable. It solved most of my problems with the gesture. Thank you!

His last video here actually gave me such a good cheat for the arms when he said that every muscle moved differently ↙ ↘ like this!

Can't wait to see what other knowledge he's got here!

Got his book and reading it right now, i like it the most on how he guide the reader on proportions which is very hard on figure drawing weather its anime/cartoon or classical.
