I always tell people, just post. You have no idea why some people watch. I follow some people and give them lots of watch hours because their videos might have a calming vibe, voice sounds calming, etc. I do not care what they are even talking about. I'll throw it on in the background while I work

You said some people can just talk, some people just can't, and I thought and some people just shouldn't. So its definitely REALLY spending sometime figuring out what you're good at.

I’m enjoying showing up as myself as I post. My videos encourage patience, persistence, attention span, steady pace, calm, natural energy 👍🏻

Yesterday, I started my channel talking about living a simple life and embracing monotony. Trying to keep my filming and editing simple because I have a full-time job and doing YouTube as a hobby. I hope my viewers can enjoy this more-calm approach as compared to the highly edited videos on YouTube these days. Cheers to everyone!

My educational channel took way too much energy for not enough ROI. I live right around the corner from Disneyland and thought, why not? Just started this past April and I'm already halfway monetized. POV, no commentary or added music, just the park vibes.

My videos are very boring, but very real. I lost my job 1 day ago and trying to document building something for myself instead of having to find more employment. Appreciate anyone who stops by.

Thank you for this video! 🙏🏼

10–20 hours editing a single video? Absolutely not. As a small creator with under 50 subscribers and two jobs, trying to out-edit or out-produce big channels with massive budgets is a losing game. I’m completely aligned with this; I’ve found a simple structure and cadence that actually fits my life. The right audience will find the channel over time, and if someone wants flashy edits, plenty of other channels offer that!

Love your stuff....cracks me up your video is super flashy as you say be simple lol

People confuse the effort put into making a highly polished visually cinematic looking “masterpiece” as a “quality marker” - but they can be boring as hell - the visual quality does not necessarily determine if the value of the video is good or not. Too many creators focus on the visual side, forgetting that there needs to be a point to a video, it has to provide value, if it doesn’t it’s just a pretty shell.
What people are discovering now is that you don’t have to have elaborate studio setups with 3 point lighting to convey a message, provide value, give advice, share stories - and you don’t have to have a new b-roll graphic chart or visual to explain every word being said in a video - and it comes as a counterpoint to those overproduced vids the last handful of years - and now that AI is capable of stacking vids like that, chock full of random b-roll, people revert to what AI can’t properly do yet, convey those human aspects in a believable way :)

I gotta figure out what I’m doing wrong.  For my style I believe my title and thumbnails would work but they aren’t. Once people actually see my content they seem to like it.

This is my biggest frustration rn. Everyone in my niche seems to be posting horribly edited music less videos and they’re blowing as explorer channels. 😭

Yesssss, I love this! Bring back CONNECTION over DOPAMINE. It may take longer to get interested and more deeply involved with a creator, but it is also so much more fulfilling. I've really been enjoying returning to longer form content on here which I did growing up. It feels so good.

Will make more boring videos!

yayyyyy for boring videos!!!

I'm in a weird space with this whole concept lately.  My channel is based on opening up about personal experiences and reflections while navigating being a first time dad at 47.  While I watch and follow creators of all types, I too nave noticed the "boring" trend...which I believe is just authenticity.  I'm curious though if content with lighting in an office, for example, betrays that authenticity compared to just talking from your car or out in the woods.  Where I am struggling is that I genuinely enjoy lighting, editing, good audio, etc.  Is it more produced than someone ranting from their driver's seat? Sure.  Is it authentic?  I would say so...but I fear that the aesthetic tells viewers something else.  Almost like the pendulum has swung so far that if you're not making a rough video with your phone, it's not "real".

I think a lot of it has to do with a reversion back to what YouTube used to be about: amateur creators. The barrier to entry for regular content creators became so high (needing production crews, marketing teams, etc.) that people quit relating to this TV level production and started longing for  the days of old. “Boring” content is just lower production value and most everyday people associate with that much better than these uber polished channels.

I was already making boring videos 😂 then stopped for months because I was thinking so much about what makes a good video, what do people want etc. that I stopped doing the thing, uploading something, anything for potential viewers to watch. Trying to curate a perfect gallery of great videos can be very harming for your motivation, creativity and enjoyment, I do not recommend it! Edit the video until you're 100% happy with it, even if it means shooting a couple more scenes you think will add value or reshooting a better thumbnail, then post the damn thing and let it breathe, move on to the next one. Thanks for your help, G

i loveee boring videos/relaxing videos. For me 20-40 mins of relaxing video is literally ideal, since i tend to put on youtube to unwind or keep myself entertained while doing menial tasks.

i've tried to strike that tone in my drawing videos but i can't figure out how to get the slow paced videos in front of people who like slow paced content. it seems like there's a 'trust curve' where people want to spend that boring time with someone, but they have to believe that you can deliver something relaxing/satisfying

Just would like to pause you vid and say I think it's great how you're talking about other creators on the platform rather than just giving your take, one of the biggest missed things I think yt has vs ig/ttok/x is that it really isn't nearly as socially focused as their communities can be, but to be fair this is just my experience and I don't know if I'm in the minority here; regardless, nice video man.

Appreciate your take on this
