Thanks for the memories! Our scout troop climbed Mt Katadin back around 1961 when I was 11 years old I think. I still remember all those rocks and blisters. Shoes and socks weren't that good back then. I lived in Orono Maine, near Bangor and my dad was the scoutmaster. We now live in Utah and he's 103, me 76. I still hike around the Uintas alone

You didn't have to tell me you were almost blown off the mountain 😱 My stomach was in knots already! So glad you didn't die 🙂

i'm an elderly woman who loved hiking during most my life.  My grandmother used to sing me a song when I was a little child, "A sunbeam, a sunbeam.  Jesus wants me for a sunbeam."  I remembered her singing that child's  song while seeing the sunbeams shedding light on the mountain.

Tristan, I feel this hike was even more precipitous than some of the ones I’ve seen you take out West! I’m honestly amazed to see all those blue blazes along those jagged rocks. Wow! It is not a hike I would ever do, so I truly appreciate you taking us along with you. I do hope you got some good sleep after this one.

I have followed you for several years now and I think this is one of the most breathtaking hikes I’ve seen
you’ve had so many but this one for some reason it had my heart in my throat and I’m sitting on the couch. I don’t know how you do it.!!!

Whoo bo. I wouldn't want to hike that one at 74 so glad ou did it for me. Stay safe for that child soon coming into your lives.

When you were talking about the changeable weather on the bigger mountains it reminded me of the day myself and a group of friends were traversing the Knife edge from the other direction and we were caught in a pop up squall that literally came out of nowhere. We got hit with rain, pea hail, and high winds a little more than half way across. We got through it OK and made it back to camp at Chimney Pond. Soon after the ranger came over looking for volunteers to help him get to a man who had injured his leg up there in the same storm. So back up we went. We managed to get him back down using the stretcher the ranger had carried on his back. It was quite the experience.

I love watching this. We lived in Patten, Maine and watched the sun set over Katahdin. My older sister climbed knife’s edge and this is incredible seeing what she actually did. This just made me admire her that much more. Thank you Tristan for bringing us along. You still scare the crap out of me.

Aside from being impressed by the awesome hike, as a photographer I am in envy of your wonderful photography and the efforts you make placing the camera and backtracking to make us feel like we are right there with you. You have climbed in other beautiful places in the west, but this hike was just one of your more incredibly scenic hikes. Thanks for taking us along as this is one i will definitely never be able to do.

Great job Tristan.  Kudos for going thru the notch below Pamola peak with a camera in one hand!  This brought back great memories for my wife and I - we hiked the knife edge and Helon Taylor 40+ years ago.
