HE was NAKED. There, saved you 15 minutes.

What I love about the No Rain video is how it shows that the world is bigger than the place where you first feel out of place. The Bee Girl gets laughed at in her tiny little corner of the world — but once she steps outside it, she finds people who love the very thing she was ashamed of. It’s a reminder that your real “family” is often out there somewhere, waiting to dance with you instead of laughing at you.

Lots of people talking about how great the 90s were. I enjoyed the 90s in my mid twenties, but the entire 80s blew the 90s out of the water! The excitement and energy of the 90s was tripled in the 80s. Getting to be a teenager in the 80s then a young man in the 90s was the best blessing I could have ever desired!

Bee girl is now 42, happily married with three kids.

In 92, they came through Denver, CO and played at a bar and grill in downtown while touring clubs in the U.S. This was when their CD Blind Melon was just released but prior to the famous bee girl video. A friend and I stopped in at the bar early on and stayed for their show. We had a table up front next to the stage. During breaks in their sets, they hung out with us at our table. They were nice guys, pretty chill. The friend I went with passed a few years ago. All of it now a great surreal memory.

Shannon passed away the same day as my Mom. October 21, 1995... a day I will never forget.

I'm from Lafayette, Indiana (Dayton is a township within the bigger city system). My daughter goes to Dayton Elementary. Shannon's grave is two blocks south of the school. I went to the same high school he did. I'm in my 40's now, and I've been going to his birthday vigil at his grave site since I was 18. His mother is one of the kindest people I've met. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but everyone who has says he was the kindest person, even while struggling deeply with his own mental health.

Needless to say, I'm a massive fan. His music has buoyed me through some very dark times. I feel a deep kinship with him and the struggles he faced. I wish so badly to hear all the music he was never able to give us. I think it would have pulled me even further in the road to recovery.  He is truly and deeply missed.

I went to a fancy dress party in the 90s dressed as the bumble bee girl 🐝

I was a depressed 12 y/o with S/I in ‘92. BM’s 🐝 debut album saved my life ♥️🙏 RIP S Hoon thank you for sharing your talent that saved me

2 minutes of research would tell you that the night before he died, he bought an ounce of cocaine and gacked it all night and into the morning.  He suffered heart failure due to the cumulative effects of cocaine use, too much, too often.  He had been a fiend for crack cocaine, smoking it for days at a time all throughout the recording of "Soup" in New Orleans.  All of this was left out of this video for some reason, but can be found in Blind Melon's authorized biography by Greg Prato.

He was about the same age as my dad and his daughter only 6 months older than me. My dad passed in 2019, and he was a huge grunge/metal fan and amazing musician. I’m gonna be thinking of this band differently now when I listen to their music.

I remember first seeing Shannon pop up in GnR's 'Don't Cry' video. I thought he was cute, but I was 16. I was totally into metal looking guys. But, when Blind Melon came out, Shannon's voice was so calm and peaceful, you could listen to 'No Rain' anywhere and it lifted my spirits up and made me smile. Bee girl too. RIP Shannon. I will always remember you and the music.

Bee girl is unforgettable in all music videos!!

There will never be another decade like the 90's. The internet killed the music business as it once was. Where are all the garage bands playing dive bars for free, handing out self made demos on CD's while trying to catch the attention of a record label exec? Those days are long gone.

As a touring tech and knowing shannon as some might consider a friend i can say he was one of the nicest people i met when i worked in that industry. I ran into often. They toured with a band i worked for so was around him daily. Being a touring musician and a front person its one of the hardest jobs. No sick days. There is nothing easy about this lifestyle.

"Soup" is a great album start to finish. It was totally underrated.

In 1995 I worked for a company in New Orleans that maintained the phone system at the Hotel InterContinental where Blind Mellon was staying, their tour bus was parked in front of the hotel. I was there the morning he was discovered unresponsive. The paramedics and police arrived and there was some chaos at the normally quiet hotel. The hotel staff was informed shortly thereafter that he was gone. I was familiar with the band and the song No Rain but not a huge fan. It was very sad and made quite an impression on me.

I was AT that concert. I was in the front row, about 30 feet to the left of where he was peeing. I remember being so grateful he did it over there and not on us. It was crazy.

I loved Blind Melon ack in the 90s and still do today. I remember when I went to the Lollapalooza festival in Columbus, Ohio in 1995 a few months after Shannon died. When we got out of the car and were walking through the parking lot, all we heard was the music of Blind Melon blasting from numerous vehicles all around us as we walked. It was both beautiful and sad.
Shannon was a beautiful soul and is very much missed. ❤️
