I often get requests for fingerpicking exercises on guitar. There's something really special about fingerpicking that people are drawn to. Maybe it's because the parts sound bigger than just a single guitar. Or maybe it's the unique rhythm you get.

I've found that people are intimidated by fingerpicking. And I'll admit that jumping right into a song can be quite the challenge. So like every technique on guitar, I always recommend exercises to build a skill. I have 6 total exercises I'm going to show you, but I'm only going to show you 3 today to keep things manageable.

Thank you so much for doing all of this!! I so appreciate you🎉❤I am 53 and I come from a musical family. I took guitar in high school and could play very little. Now the kids are grown I have more time so I am picking it up again. I’ve lost all my guitar players, unfortunately. I’m a singer and I like to write. I need to learn to play. It is so much easier now with the Internet. I truly appreciate you.🎉❤

I picked up the guitar again during lock down after 35 years to help with my mental health. It is a beautiful instrument and it really has kept me focused during these difficult times we are facing.
