Departure wondering why you're parked on the active runway for 15 minutes, and why the cockpit is flashing like it's a damned nightclub.

2:29 and everytime a child comes into the cockpit😂

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve leaned from your channel. Thank you for the content.

THANK YOU!! i spent hours looking for Glareshiled light

Thank you, I never knew about the tray table lights but do now.

God Bless You Captain I have learnt a lot from you and your channel 🙏

Thank you for the video. Personally I find the table lights in fenix to be a nice alternative to the flood lights which I don’t like that much. They provide comfortable ambient lighting - not that bright, not that orange, though still reduces the contrast between displays and darkness of the cockpit.

Stunning video. thx for explanation

2:28 You're wrong, according to CHILD VISITOR IN THE COCKPIT memory items, it's mandatory to turn on by the pilots!

Good evening cpt, I always wonder, are those shiny bulbs in the feet area also lights?  Almost on the floor in the side panel.

Great video! You should do one for the 737’s!

With 40 yrs of flying the Boeings I was hoping you'd mention the use of flight deck lights in day-time.  When flying into the sun the panel is back-lighted and pretty much black.  By turning on the flightdeck panel lights the panel becomes much easier to read.   Also flipping off the room lights your night vision using the sim is improved.

Finally, after all study aircraft you have tested so far, what would you recommand on FS2024 ? What give you the most sensation of real flying ? Thanks

Hey, why are "storm" flood lights called like that on some aircraft?

When MSFS started doing 3D cockpit back in FS2002, I wasn't convinced. It is just a badly made polygonal 3D model that is awful and not immersive. It was just eye candy and nothing functional. However, it does really tell you where to find the instruments, buttons, and so on.
2D panels were a thing all the way to FSX era in 2006. It looks funny as the viewpoint is never really correct, and the night lighting is just a 2D texture painted with lightened overlay (colour blending that is just coloured 2D cockpit texture surface).
During PMDG 737NG launch, Robert S Randazzo musing about the tranquility of night cockpit lighting and how he setup his 737 cockpit lightings in real life. In these day and age, it is super possible to recreate a pretty representative night cockpit lighting in our desktop PC.

However MSFS has a lot of quirks: lights, both sources and effects are bloom function - making them much brighter than they actually are. Case in point: moon lighting in night flight. It totally illuminates the plane including registration letters on wing surface. In real life, you can't see anything outside during total darkness at night.
Darkness in MSFS is cartoonishly extremely dark and lights do not refract like in X-Plane (which explains why cockpit displays do not emit enough light, they just reflect). A terminal lighting will usually seep through cockpit and create either shadows or illumination / reflection - but it does nothing in MSFS. Case in point is how dark the apron is in MSFS compared to MSFS2024. Normally you can still see the planes taxiing from the terminal. In MSFS, they operate like military airports - total darkness that requires night vision.

Hi! Although the exterior lights aren't part of the video I was wondering what the difference between the two nav lights settings is. Do you know when to use setting 1 vs 2?

Whys there more dislkes than likes lol
