Starfleet Academy review of the first episode where Star Trek takes on Harry Potter in Kurtzman's latest release for Paramount. After all of the clips, I expected the tone of the series I got, but I never expected them to just push evil as the main point of the story. Their idea of "interrogating Starfleet" is an evil guy asking why they're separating murderers from children. It's not a high bar for morality but Kurtzman still can't reach it. On top of that the story makes no sense with the ship being destroyed and the crew doing NOTHING about it. It's just the kids running around fixing everything without any sign of security of engineers. Much like Section 31 they never thought about it, the show just needed something to happen so it does. There is no consideration of how characters would act in this situation, or even the capability of technology in the time. The tech goes from magic when it needs to be, to unable to detect children on the outside of the ship the next. Add onto that the teenage drama and strange interpersonal fights that would fit more among 8 year olds. And this is a hell of a series that isn't Star Trek, and isn't aimed at any audience. But what did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Making almost every character a "quirky" or contradictory trope doesn't make them all interesting; it makes them collectively exhausting.

"long ago, Starfleet Academy took the finest Minds"
"yeah well, thats over" hahaha

I guess this is their version of SW: Acolyte. No source. No Science. No Lore.

Only the message.

That Klingon is everything General Chang was worried about Klingons turning into

''Separating families'', ''they just wanted food'' etc. I wonder if it has something to do with politics in the USA when the show was made? It's just so subtle!

When you graduate from this version of Starfleet Academy, you are immediately assigned to Starbucks as the most incompetent barista ever.

Wait so she felt no remorse sentencing the man who was involved in the crime, but is sorry for the evil woman? Hollywood needs to disappear & be replaced by moral people.

"I swallowed my combadge?"...  What in the hell? Someone tell me I didn't hear that right

..huh, i hadn't realized they were doing an official Star Trek - Idiocracy crossover...

I like how everything in this show could have been prevented if they had just enabled two factor authentication.

The child stealing the star trek badge is a metaphor for the writers stealing the trappings of star trek without understanding anything about what it is about.

Disparu casually get more views than actual episode 😂

They turned Starfleet Academy into a modern day Ivy League university.

The graduates of this academy finally explains where ToS recruited all the "Red Shirts".

Ever notice how dark and dim Kurtzman Trek is? TNG was almost always brightly lit. Even DS9 had a kind of warm friendly lighting on the station. The only time it was dark and dim was when bad things were happening, like they crashed on a planet or were trapped in a cave. Even Enterprise had fairly bright lighting.

It makes a huge difference, and probably reflects on the makers' view of the world.

You don't curl up in the captain's chair to read a book, that's what your personal quarters are for!

We were all waiting for this review Disparu 😂

Its like they saw The Acolyte and decided the problem was that it wasnt cringe and gay enough.

Aliens used to say "Take me to your leader". Now it's "I need to speak to your manager. NOW!!".
