Flaubert in Modern Literature. Andreu Jaume

On the bicentenary of his birth, we dedicate a course to the work of Gustave Flaubert, a key writer of modernity, a radical formalist who took the novel to one of the highest peaks of European literature. A great critic of the dogmas of his time, capable of imagining both his own era and the mythical past, Flaubert bequeathed to us an example of stylistic virtuosity as well as moral and imaginative courage that is essential in our century.
