Correction: The GOG port was released last year 2024. I'm as clueless as you as to why I put 2022 in the script 😅😅

so fun fact, capcom lost the original textures after the gamecube release. capcom took the gamecube textures and did a bad job at upscaling them. the community ripped the gamecube textures and did a much better job at upscaling them. i would highly recommend the community upscale textures.

NGL i was dual shocked when i saw Barrys son had made this video. Glad to see his family escaped that hostage situation.

Honestly, the DS version is pretty great.

I SWEAR someone made that basement song with a different sound font somewhere, and like, that don't fix the hack of a composer that pretended to be blind and all that, but still, it was neat hearing it closer to what it could've been, but its been so long that i dont even believe it was real, but i SWEAR it was man, it haunts me to this day

16:40 That happens because the emulator is reading the game data slowly as if it were a real PS1 reading a Disc. you can partly get rid of the problem by going to the "Console" tab in settings and setting the read speedup to 6x and seek speedup to 10 under "CD-ROM Emulation" anything higher then those break the game last time I checked

Just yesterday I was installing PoP: Sands of Time and your channel came to mind, this saga could use a little love. A video explaining it well, because even if it's “easy” to remasterize it, it can be a bit confusing at first.

Thanks for your work, I really enjoy your videos 👍

Amazing video, definitely your best so far. It makes me so happy that there's someone like you who dives into the niche details to figure out the best version of older games while also having excellent production value. It gets a bit monotonous diving into random, potentially dated reddit threads to look for this same information. Keep up the excellent work.

@NickGoblin 1 year ago

31:13 this was likely done to compensate for how de-saturated the screens on the original DS looked. Similar practices were done to GBA games.

This has been one of the most in-depth, information dense Youtube videos I have seen in a while. It kind of reminds me of old Youtube where tutorials just got to the point and things just worked following the steps. Very cool vid.

I give you 10/10 for this amazing content. Can’t wait to play RE1 for the first time!

Love what you are doing man fantastic stuff

Thanks a lot for your efforts to help people enjoy older games. Please make a video on Manhunt games.

The remake still looks great even in 2025! I remember being totally blown away by it when it came out on GameCube

@sebastercats6123 1 year ago

I always watch these videos thinking I'm gonna play them. Then, I just forgot about them and watch the next "best way to play" videos. Honestly, I'd rather watch these than those side-by-side comparison videos.

Having someone recommend you which version is more reassuring. Plus, it's fun to have someone explain it alongside valuable information.

Great timing, I literally just picked up Resident Evil Remake on the Steam Summer Sale!

36:08 there's also a mod called "Deadly Silence" on Nexus which replaces the in game models (costumes as well), music and sprite art with the ones from the DS port which I use alongside RE:Enhance. You can select it when booting and the HD texture still loads with it. It also includes a models only download
