Short skip vs. long skip is an interesting observation...different stations on different antennas.

Regarding other antenna projects -- any kind of a phased array or a parasitic antenna is a monoband antenna.  If you want to operate 40-10 you'll need to design an antenna to be fed with open wire line.  Lot's to fiddle with!  Great, helpful vid, OM -- thank you // Stef DU3/NN3M

Thanks for this video. I did make one of these this week and am very impressed with the great improvement in Signal-to-Noise ratio on some, not all, signals. Have to play with it some more to see if I can predict which types of signals will benefit. I do note that while absolute signal strength is quite a bit down on this antenna, some signals are much easier to hear due to the even lower noise floor. I did make a 3d printed housing for my matching transformer and can certainly share the STL file with anyone who wants to make a 3d printed housing.

Keep at it. Getting the noise down is worthwhile. KE5TJ

Great video. It was very helpful. Thank you.

We don't see, we hear.

I LIVE IN OKL as well i got some antennas and device that can help with the rf noise floor

Fascinating.  Thank you for taking the time to put this together.  N6NRO

i have a portal shortwave ssb receiver with only a whip. was thinking of using a coil of wire on whip and using Ethernet cable as balanced feed line. i need a good antenna this looks good.

Hi David,
Interesting antenna. I do have one more open port on my 5 position manual antenna switch. May give it a try to see how it might help in my location in a suburb of Philadelphia. You and the family stay safe. WJ3U

I'm playing around with one of these myself at the moment.
One thing I noticed on your video and several others I've watched.    When comparing the loop to another antenna, the noise floor does indeed drop quite a bit on the loop.   However,  the peaks of signals also drops about the same amount.  I don't see too much difference in the signal to noise ratio between antennas.
I think all we're seeing with a loop on the ground is simple attenuation.
Still gathering data.

How is mowing around it?   I use a riding lawn mower with the deck set low.  Do you mow right over it?
