Okay YES this is mainly just game design, but I think explaining things in universe is more fun, I really enjoyed making this video, its a little bit of a shorter one but I really tried hard with it

Thank you for watching : )

"The right barrel at the wrong place can make all the difference"

The idea of this video kind of relates to the theory that the G-Man works for Valve, lol.

this reminds me of George Lucas talking about Jar Jar "He's the key to all this" except its barrels

Now I've just got the mental image of GMan noclipping around the maps just ahead of Gordon, using a GMOD tool gun to spawn in random props for him to use.

New crack theory: GMan is the living embodiment of GMod, in-universe.

Maybe the explosive barrels were the friends we made along the way

I'll always remember the old joke theory about an Explosive Barrel Factory in City 17 that was just offscreen.
Always got a kick out of that idea.

I wonder, would "beating half life 2 without exploding any barrels" be a remotely interesting challenge idea?

The way how explosive barrels seems to appear in the most random places makes them look like an another weird being from the portal storm.

the combine use dead rebels/citizens as biofuel, where the use it for demolition, and that’s why they have so many

I love, and hate, how this joke theory hilariously makes sense.

the barrel placement is actually a really good piece of game design. like i never noticed that they were an assistance for the player, i never noticed they lessened in number until it was pointed out. that's genius game design right there.
