Join Sweetwater for a tour of New York‘s historic Quad Recording Studios hosted by Mitch Gallagher and Quad‘s Ricky St. Hilaire. Originally founded in 1978, Quad is a multi-floor studio and private entertainment space in the heart of NYC‘s Times Square. Producer and engineer Ricky first joined Quad Recording Studios at just age 17; he shows us the Studios’ different rooms, consoles, and outboard gear and weaves it all together with glimpses into Quad‘s rich social history — it’s been a go-to choice for some of the biggest names in modern and classic hip-hop, pop, and rock. Check it out!

I agree 100% with Ricky's first words. Mitch taught a lot of people in this world, a lot of people making music because of him. He helped and helps me a lot, a master like no other. Thanks people at Sweetwater and thanks so much Mitch!

Spent many many hours recording at QUAD in the early 90's. Killer location, exceptional staff...and the memories are endless. [ In one instance, I was lectured by the staff for eating several of the Rolling Stones' donuts. ;) ] So glad to see it revitalized and going strong. Best wishes for your continued success!

I had a session in Q1 a few years ago. That room does sound great. I cosign that 100%. Big ups to Quad; hopefully, I'll be back there soon. Oh, one other thing. In the world of BIG studios, I found Quad to be really affordable. Great recording experience and top-quality results!

Lovely studios, with awesome people. I was in time square last year and wanted to come up to see in person, but ran out of time. Next time for sure if i'm not in the way.

Is there no B roll with shots from the rooms itself? I mainly saw two people talking and no wide angle shots from the tracking, control and event rooms.

One thing I these places don't have is a sleep room. I was an runner/asst engineer in the analog days so work long hours because you couldn't save a session and reload it. Especially being the runner/asst engineer your there before anyone setting up and the last to leave so be great to have a little room with a bunkbed and big comfortable chair to take a nap or chill for a bit to re energize. Year later I working in computers as SysAdmin another job that can be long hours and they had a sleep room and you walk around the desk area of the SysAdmins and you'd see sleeping bags under desks. Amazing how even just a 20 minute nap can clear the head so you can work more.
