Last part of my research women at countryside help sick , poor , disabled people there . In London they had lot of activities such as parties , balls , attending theatre. Men in parliament, young sons in house or common called men in lords . They have strict rules for choosing husbands and wives . The groom and bride must be suitable , well known for them . Never get married to chorus or actresses. Younger sons might go in army , navy , clergy . Girls acquired suitable husband or left on shelf . They resigned themselves to being companions to parents or older siblings the same as us in the past , unfortunately some too till nowadays. Some daughters took great interest in social , political affairs, tried to break out of mould . Some get decent education through university. I hope you like my research. 12:36 am. Snuggling in my bed with my kitty. I love the stories of Victorian times. I remember when I was growing up, so many parts of Baltimore City/County still held sites and Buildings of the Victorian times. My Aunt and Uncle lived in the servant quarters of the Mansion for the President of the Johns Hopkins University, because my Uncle was his Limo driver. The President chose not to live in the Mansion so they had free run of it. I was only 6 yrs old, so everything looked WAY BIGGER to me! The Courtyard and Brick of the Mansion had light green and white ivy all over. There were two huge kitchens across from each other and huge counter in the middle. The library was unbelievable. The study was nice. Tall ceilings and beautiful lightning. Huge formal dining hall. The table seated 20 with fireplaces in every room! The grand staircase was unbelievable. I also loved the brass front door key 🗝️ shaped like this 🗝️, but was gigantic. They were tall doors that opened both ways at the same time. It had hidden rooms under the stair case. (And others elsewhere ) My brother and I could play hide n seek for hours! Lol. It had 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. My Aunt and Uncles quarters, were downstairs from the kitchen and looked like a really nice one bedroom apartment. That whole area of Baltimore County was beautiful. It used to have cobble stone roads. It hurts my heart seeing all those gorgeous row homes turned into run down apartments, knowing at one time they were a Grand Stand! These stories take me back to that time and those stories in school. Thanks for the channel ❤️

They had two houses at least one which in country might be very old , one google that had been in family for generations, we have too call house of the family , or recent rebuilding in their own land , which was often source of their money , farmers , activities like mining house would be in posher part of London . We too may rent house in countryside for period of time , spend vacation there in summer season. It might be rented , although highest families owned large houses in area of Hanover square . They would usually have two lots of servants , actually wealthy families in our community have two servants only considered many too . As many as 30 in each group . One for each house , with valet , lady maid , coachman traveling with them , we have chauffeur too . Head servant was bulter who was in charge of drink , manager of lower servants. There would be cook ( even French chef ) kitchen maids , ( as many as four ) scullery maid to do dirty work , housemaids to do cleaning. There would be nanny for children actually we leave kids in safe hands as sister , grandma, nursery maid , plus governess for girls and younger boys before they went to boarding school, even specialist tutors for languages , music , art. We have Tutors too our neighbors young man is very skilled in math , have many students . There are laundry and laundry maids washing, was sent from London . Male staff , footman whose job included laying tables, serving dinner , drink , tea , coffee, taking messages around the house, accompanying employer when going out . There are too tax on servants . Also outdoor servants , garden, game keeper , maintenance grooms stable hands for horses . Lower status had only female servants. Housekeeper was older woman , in charge of female servants, managed everything called her mrs even if she never married. They spent part of time in London and , part in countryside. In country men would manage estate with help of manager, collect books , painting, hunting , shooting, fishing. Ladies would spend time reading , sketching, water colors , embroidery, arranging flowers , playing piano.
