You never forget the first time you hear Daddy.

If my child ever told me they were sexually assaulted, I would believe them 100% and be going to prison for killing someone.

Jonathon was molested by his babysitter. He told his mom about it and she knew it happened, but never did anything to protect him from the abuse. The ending is real, not acted out. He told them to keep recording no matter what. In an interview, he said he left it on the track to show how real and horrible sexual abuse is and will affect someone.

Judith Kiener is the woman singing the song while Jonathan is crying. She is Jonathan's half sister. She was singing to comfort him and soothe him. She's credited on the album liner notes.

As a survivor it Fuckin hurt to listen to this, felt every single fuckin scream. Honestly kinda feels good Knowing that you're not alone you Know? Especially as a male survivor, you get shit from a lot of people.
One of the songs that helped a lot.

As a survivor of childhood sexual assault, this song just eats at my soul every time. I FEEL every sob and every scream

They legit just put Jonathon in the booth and let him go. One take. All raw. All real. So powerful.

When they recorded the song Johnathan Davis told the band to keep going no matter what. He did have a emotional breakdown in the booth. When they stopped the whole band ran into rhe booth and held him tight.... To this day I haven't heard ANY band have the balls to cover such a controversial topic... especially on the first album.

Imagine the courage to do this song on a debut album. This album is incredible as a whole

Alot of Korns song are misunderstood.. He suffered abuse as a child and teen and music is his therapy in a way...as a mother it brings me to tears when I listen to it like this... I think his music is probably very cathartic to other victims, to know they aren't alone.
First I saw your channel, when I saw you were a pastor I figured you'd misunderstand it.. But I was very surprised.. Thanks for having an open mind.

One of the most difficult songs to get through for me. And the worst part is it actually happened. Not exactly as depicted in the song, but close. And that freakout that Jonathan Davis had at the end was 100% real. He got overwhelmed by the memories while singing it and broke down in the booth.

... this is a song that you feel absolutely terrible listening to, but is so so so powerful.

Supposedly as John is crying towards the end his band mates joined him in the recording booth, and wrapped him in their arms as he was still crying.

I honestly thought people were requesting this song just to troll us, but I was wrong. Albeit graphic, this was an incredibly powerful song. Thank you for the suggestion!

Everytime I hear that opening bass riff I get chills because I know how much pain and suffering it must've been for Jonathan to release this song.

The worst part for me aside from the emotional breakdown Jonathon has at the end is just thinking that he also had to put himself thru the trauma of singing the parts of the predator that hurt him... he is re-living the pain, having to act the parts pf him the victim as well as the victimizer. and no one in the band knew what was going on so the music just keeps going confused while he cries. thanks for all your input.

This vulnerability is why I think Korn has such staying power. Johnathan Davis has helped so many people deal with their trauma by simply acknowledging and working through his own. He reframed this kind of experience to be something you own rather than something you should be ashamed of and never talk about.

Also, the amount of people Jonathan Davis helped by releasing this is immense. And he knew that even though it killed him, it might help others.

The power of music.

This is easily the most devastating, disturbing and the most depressing song ever recorded. Brutally honest and really hard to handle. I never experience so much anger and pain in a song. This song made me extra aware of pain and suffering.

The short version of my story, my mother got killed in front of me when I was six, my father was an abusive alcoholic, I was sexually/physically/mentally abused as a child, grew up wanting a measure of power and control over my destiny and ended up in the military for a stint. Wrong place to look for that. Ended up deployed abroad, saw/did a bunch of fucked up shit, like picking up the pieces of family of six who ran over an IED intended for us, standing watch over a mass grave waiting for the forensic pathologists to do their job, losing five friends/colleagues, etc etc, came home even more broken, but not with PTSD. Had that before I even joined up. Trying my hardest to keep up appearances, working civ job, smiling, drudging along. Lost even more friends to suicide than when deployed, left me with this horrible guilt, feeling that I could have done more, said something, done something to prevent those suicides. That feeling is one of the few things still keeping me alive, I do not want my loved ones asking themselves those questions. Using booze to be able to sleep, and now sitting drunk in front of my computer spilling my guts to a stranger on the internet, shit I've not even told to those close to me. End of story.

No death metal can touch this level of disturbing anguish. If I ever meet JD he’s getting the biggest hug possible.
