My main source was the book "Les oubliés de l'île Saint-Paul des Crozet et des Kerguelen (by Daniel Floch)". It had been downloaded from a website called "z-library" over a year ago. But today, searching the site again, I couldn't find the book anymore. But I suggest you search again if you want to know more. The reading is quite interesting (it's in French, but you can understand it easily with Google Translate).
