The 85-metre-long Nova is coming from the Aduarderdiep and passes under the Kinderverlaten Bridge to reach the Hoendiep near the sugar factory (Cosun Beet Company) in Hoogkerk. Here, the vessel turns 180 degrees in the narrow canal. It then passes under the Kinderverlaten Bridge once more to moor at the sugar factory’s quay on the Aduardiep. The vessel is likely to be unloading limestone.
I know a bow thruster is being used, but it’s still quite a feat to manage that turn. (25 May 2025).

Het is op het Hoendiep krap tot 90 meter, het blijft vakmanschap. Maar deze schippers hebben ervaring . In de meeste binnenhavens hebben ze zwaaikommen. En daar draaien ze ook met een kopschroef gaat dat nog redelijk vlot. Zonder kopschroef heeft de schipper alle ruimte nodig. Chapeau voor onze binnenschippers.
