You're so lucky to be living in Minnesota! I am a neighbor in Wisconsin, which has lost a lot of it's old forests, which makes mushroom hunting much harder.

just met a man in the forest who gave me some of these ! really random experience but i look forward to cooking them

After several days of research, my kids & I went out today (Columbus Day) and not even 1000' feet into the woods from the road, we found just under 10lbs of Hen of the Woods. BEYOND EXCITED HERE!!! ((Sauteeing and munching now!))

Thanks for the great video!!!

My cousin and I found our first Hen today. Wasn't really sure how best to clean it with all the little black specks, but at least got all the bugs out and cut off the bug trails. Thanks for the vid.

Very informative. Thank youuu

Imagine the first humans to find these...  Who the hell looks at that and thinks "I wonder if I can eat it!".  We should build a monument to all the unknown ancestors throughout history who tested all the various berries, mushrooms, seafood etc to see if it was okay to eat or poisonous.

Just had a plate full sauteed in butter then added beef bouillon broth. Wow! The rest of my family gets sick  from them. I haven't had them in years so crossing my fingers.

I just got a huge specimen. Dinner party for 8 tomorrow. This is what I am doing.

I found a beautiful
Hen of the Woods yesterday...I am excited as he is in the video...
DINNER TONIGHT 🍄

Love it. My son, only two, loves to eat foraged mushrooms with his dad too. He loves talking about boletes and chicken of the woods and Turkey tail. Kids love mushrooms! Get in the woods with your kiddos, and teach them their mushrooms!

My spouse and I just found a 7.8lb Hen of the woods. Our first one! Very excited to clean it up and eat.

I always have a long knife with me when I’m foraging.  I cut the base of all mushrooms so I leave the root or base of the mushroom in the ground so it will have a better chance to grow back.  I feel bad if I pull out the entire mushroom.  I don’t want to ruin the spot of regrowth

Just found my first today! It was tucked into the interior of a stump, about 10 inches across. I’m excited to try it! My 9 year old son and I are having a lot of fun identifying and foraging the mushrooms we know without a doubt are edible. Lots of golden oysters and a bit of chicken of the woods. We also found a baseball sized puffball we plan on eating.

The glow of finding a mushroom always reminds me of the pregnancy glow

No matter how much I clean/wash it, it’s gritty and sandy.

Thank you sir.  This was perfect for prepping the huge one I found right on my back doorstep.

I love mushrooms. Thank you❣️

Thank you for your videos and I hope you get to have a good rest of your day in your neck of the woods wherever that may be at PS kindness is key to a good life, happiness is something we should all strive for and if we can't love ourselves and how can we expect someone else love us and remember to be kind to yourself and care for yourself in a good way because yourself will thank you for it. Take care and good luck happy foraging out there

I also forage for ginseng and other plants too on our property 😁🙏📿🙏😁

I dehydrated this and everything turned black. 120○ for 2 hours.  Im thinking its not actually hen of the woods. I will say the taste was wonderful.
