I've finally tested the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R against the Hoosier TrackAttack Pro and Bridgestone Potenza RE71 RS on track and an autocross course to find out which is fastest, which warms up the most quickly, how they manage the heat on track, and how the wear is.

Running the track attack pro 295/19/30 squared setup on a g87 m2 and honestly my mind was blown

Big problem with the Hoosier is it doesn’t meet the SCCA requirement for 200TW starting tread depth, so it’s useless for a lot of the autocross market.

Appreciate the testing as always. I race (WRL) and we tested the RE71RS vs the Hoosier extensively. We run those tires for everything from 20 minute qualifying to 14 hours non stop and in conditions from just above freezing to 95F Florida heat. The Hoosier is indeed 1 sec or a little more faster than the Bridgestone in our testing but the fall off is very high as you've noticed and it's very sensitive to conditions. It's slower to warm up in cold conditions, and it gets a lot slower in heat as well. It's too finicky to be a good all around tire in my experience. My subjective view of where the Hoosier is better is in combined load, it's outstanding when trail-braking + turning

I wonder if that 3-layer Aramid fiber sidewall on the Hoosier contributed significantly to its performance, with the Aramid fiber being as stiff and light as it is.

I'm so excited that you also included autocross as an angle for testing, as not everyone has access to big tracks, but almost everyone has a local autocross chapter. Thank you for that, and please continue to do so! extremely important for us solo drivers!
