I don't know what angers me most. The AI channels or the platforms that are allowing it. Thanks for pointing the slop out.

I don’t know whats more annoying… the fact these are AI or the self deprecating “oh, I’m so pathetic! I’m being bullied! Please feel bad for me I’m so ugly and untalented 😭!”

Those tears dropping down vertically from the middle of the eye are such dead giveaways lmao.

another thing I've noticed about the items they're 'making' is that the item is already constructed and has all its hardware on, it's not normal to still be working on a finished product.

the fact i got an ai generated ad on this video is insaneee

As someone who is actually struggling to keep my little shop going, every time I see these AI slop reels I am filled with white-hot rage. This is so disgusting. Thanks for talking about it, Laura.

What's really ironic is that I keep getting ads for Etsy on Prime that say something along the lines "For people, by people," when it's literally one of the forerunners of AI usage without anything being done about it.

The worst thing about this is that I saw Youtube Shorts from AI creators where it literally said AI under the title and there were still people falling for that😭😭😭

I was telling a non-crocheting friend about how AI is poisoning the craft, and I sounded like I was nuts! Of all the things to target, it is the craziest! 😳

"Crock-hettting" is hilarious and obviously AI.

My mom keeps falling for this and asks me every day if I want crochet books or hooks from ai sites.

15:58 thank you for talking about this inherently racist and ableist side of this AI scam problem as well. I think it's a really dangerous "trend" that is developing here...

I can't believe that water and energy were wasted to produce this ai slop. As long as the platforms allow it and dismiss the reports, those scam will thrive

Even before I notice the ai, most of these channels ping as “Im making up a sob story to get you to buy my products” scams, which drop shippers have been using for at least a decade and Im sure the core idea has been used as long as people have

There's another thing I spotted at videos You showed: usually these people have one item to sell. Maybe it's in different colors, but still it's the same design.
When You see vendors' booths, they try to diverse their inventory and even if they sell only bags, there are several designs to get an attention from as many people as they can.

The amount of delusional people thinking this is okay. I see comments and be like “so pretty!!!” And when someone says it’s fake they get alll offended (the viewers) and they say things like “ITS NOT FAKE BE NICE!!!” I got a little comment on my vids (I deleted) and they said that I was being mean to a girls crochet but it was clearly ai and I said “i wasn’t being rude. I was only saying it’s fake” 😭 this ai literally needs to stop.

I think we also need to point out that nobody is out there attacking people for making crafts and the notion we're supposed to believe they are is comical.

It’s always the same verbiage, and they never show them crocheting up close. It’s always just a few little movements up and down, but they never really show them crocheting

The bigger problem is that this is devaluating crochet and other hobbies as a whole. I would NEVER sell one of the bags I make for £43. The amount of time goes into making these items is crazy.

Those pity videos are ridiculous. I’ve been doing shows for years and have NEVER been told my stuff was bad or ugly. People who know that something is truly handmade, even if not the best crochet, would never say or do such things.
