How have the 15 former Soviet republics grown since 1992? This bar chart race ranks every post-Soviet country by nominal GDP from 1992 to 2030: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Highlights:
Kazakhstan passes Ukraine to become #2 in 2010
Russia's share of the region's GDP falls from about 76% in the 1990s to about 59% by 2030
Uzbekistan's GDP in dollars crashes after its 2017 currency reform, then is projected to nearly match Ukraine by 2030
Armenia's GDP in dollars jumps 40% in 2022

Data: IMF World Economic Outlook, GDP in current US dollars. 2025-2030 are IMF estimates and forecasts. Early-1990s figures are affected by hyperinflation and currency collapse. IMF data for Estonia starts in 1993, Georgia in 1994 and Lithuania in 1995.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania regard 1940-1991 as a period of Soviet occupation. They are included here because they share the same starting point in 1991.

Nominal GDP reflects exchange rates. A PPP version is coming soon.
