In this episode of the Gepiano Podcast, we talk with Víctor Gómez Casanova about Balaguer the politician and Balaguer the man: his rise to power, his style of governance, his relationship with Juan Bosch and José Francisco Peña Gómez, the highs and lows of his administrations, the myths surrounding him, and some anecdotes that help us understand the man behind the story.

We also discuss his influence on Dominican politics, the mark he left on the state and on several generations of politicians, and a question that remains relevant: what remains of Balaguer in the Dominican Republic today, and what might remain of his legacy in the future?

A conversation to understand why, so many years later, Balaguer remains impossible to ignore.
