We Gen X really was born to be superheroes. We grew up believing we could survive anything, fix anything, protect everybody, and keep moving no matter what. Now a lot of us are in our 40s and 50s (I am 50 will be 51 in Dec) carrying aging parents, family responsibilities, financial pressure, loneliness, health changes, and a world that barely slows down long enough to notice us.
But...we are still here.
WE ARE the generation that learned how to survive without a manual. WE ARE the generation who went from an analog childhood to an AI world and adapted through all of it.
So no, I don’t believe Gen X is finished, but we are RETIRED. We are tired, re-tired, we are tested, and some of us are carrying more than people realize.... but the superhero is still in there.
Much respect, my Superhero king. 👑✊🏾 KEEP THE HOPE ALIVE! LOVE YOU BRO!!!!! AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!
We’re loyal too. Sometimes too loyal though. The younger generations don’t think twice about moving on when it’s time — meaning, when they don’t see progress or if a situation no longer works for them.
Hello 🤗 Gen X female here. I never heard of gentle parenting. We were the generation of kids that went outside early in the morning and stayed out tell the street lights came on. We were able to create and build things out of nothing. We're older than Google but still know how to use all electronics and hand tools. We have the strongest work ethic and hustle . Overall we have common sense.
Being Gen X and having some life experience, I've learned there are hustlers, lazy people, successful people, dumb people, smart people, people with responsibilities, and people who have it easy in every generation.
Definitely agree on the economy and that we came from an analog time.
Glad I grew up in the 80s and 90s so I had a few enjoyable years living. Today is just an absolute nightmare in every way. No job no family no friends damn it's tough to be alive in 2026
I guess I’m in the minority. I did 20 years in the military and retired in 2024 at 40 years old. I’m now 42. I receive monthly pensions and have free healthcare for life. During my military career I purchased an acre of land near my hometown and after I retired I purchased a single wide mobile home cash. I have no debt and I haven’t worked since I retired.
As a boomer, I can tell you that it was the same for us - gotta take care of parents, gotta take care of kids (and maybe grandkids), gotta pay for mortgage, gotta pay for kids' college, gotta deal with ever increasing body aches, gotta deal with age discrimination in the workforce.
I think Gen-x is the coolest and strongest. You guys know how to build and work with your hands, you know how to have fun and tell stories, and plus you guys can fight and not afraid of anything. You can beat anyone even these bad kids.
I respect people of gen-x, even though you terrify me.😨🤣
We're the workers! We put our heads down and worked. The rest of these ppl are cooked. Cell phones and video games didn't fry our brains and teachers were actually able to teach us to read and write.
I’m 49 and husband 47. No kids. Gen X and doing great. So glad we didn’t do what everyone else did. Semi retired now and picking what we want to do for money.
