I used a ring of food safe grease right on the bark the last couple of years.  Didn't seem to damage the bark, but I'll have to try your method out.  Thanks!

what kind of tape do you like best? ive seen some tape peel bark off after grafting, so i stopped using tape against bark of any kind (electrical tape was what i saw peel bark)

What do I do with the tree after the aphids are gone.  Every branch tip is curled.  Do I prune it in the middle of July?  Do I leave it alone and expect it to come back and fruit okay next year?  What?

Thanks for the sharing, I normally apply the glue.it works but could be harm for the tree skin. I definitely will try the way of yours. just kindly remainder the ropes attached to the tree  the ants may cross through

I have a  ornamental cherry tree that is about 35 yrs old this is the 2nd summer where the aphids are terrible leaves are now turning yellow and falling off I wonder if I should just cut it  down something is burrowing into the trunk where the branches start it maybe ants in there what do you think thank you
