Most restaurant operators spend thousands online and can't tell you what came back. Brett Linkletter came out of e-commerce advertising, where nobody survives without proving ROI, and his first restaurant client saw a 7% lift across 37 stores in three months — a number Brett thought would get him fired, and that made the operator's year.
Brett is CEO and co-founder of Dishio, a restaurant guest-data and marketing platform. Dishio Holdings is the parent company; Dineline is the agency side. They bootstrapped for eleven years before raising $2.5 million at a $20 million valuation.
We get into:
Why restaurant marketing is a black box and e-commerce isn't
How Google store-visit tracking ties an ad view to a guest walking in the door
QR code menus as a Trojan horse: the scan is your thank-you page
Why seven-plus touches are needed before an ad has any economic impact
Revenue channels — walk-ins, reservations, online, catering — and matching the CTA to each
Marketing to three visits, and why the money is in repeat rather than acquisition
What personalization actually means beyond a first name in a subject line
The half-million contacts sitting unused in a POS — what Brett calls uncashed checks
Where the digital menu goes next: ingredients, sourcing and seed-oil transparency
