Check out my Wood Elf guides here:

I am pleased that WE received the improvements to make them competitive, and I am also displeased that Empire of Man has been relatively ignored.

All valid points. First I thought they were OP but facing them on the tabletop meant I realized they are indeed very good but not broken.

Wood Elves are and were one of my most common foes in all time of Fantasy and still are today in Old World with Cathay slowly cathing up. And Wardancers are one of the most common drops. I don't mind at all them being a little stronger now because I know how dedicated the guys are who field them and I don't mind a good challenge.

Many wish for new Wardancer models since decades ago.

With me playing Empire, Vampires or Chaos most of the time, I never found a really good way to handle them. Crossbows are the most effective thing, but of course they can opt to be somewhere else most of the time or just be in combat when entering crossbow range. Sometimes magic is effective but they rarely are the only threat.

And I need my Chosen or Greatswords to never cross their path.

While I will probably never build a Wood Elf army of my own, I do consider creating a small force capped at Battle March size. With Wardancers being 100% included as the visual centerpiece with a more pronounced asian touch to them. They probably live in the woods of Cathay or Nippon instead of close to the Empire?

But I'll 100% wait for new plastic Wardancers to be released!

Wood elves  doing some work. Thay got some fear factor at last

I’m a WE only player. I used to use them before the glow up. I liked them. They weren’t OP. They were still amazing against the right target. Now…. I feel bad using them. They are definitely OP in friendly games. They are feels bad for my opponents.

I just think they’re really neat.

I'd say they're where they need to be in being the less mobile glass cannon companion to the Wild Riders. Yes, they'll wipe the floor with Heavy Infantry and Cavalry in a stand-up fight but the Wood Elves' challenge is managing to get to that engagement when missile units, magic, and artillery come into play. And in melee plenty else can come out on top, in particular Chariots with their murderous impact Hits and T6 and up monsters where Wardancers simply put cannot get the volume of hits in they need to crunch through that toughness.

Adding two units of them made my games against my regular opponent (Chaos player) and a lot closer. Really added much needed spice and makes Wood Elves more fun to play.

In battle march they're absolutely brutal

First! They are on foot, so good but not broken imo. Also Welves deserve some love.

It's quite funny that stomps and impact hits are two of the biggest threats to them. If there's one unit in the game that should be able to avoid such things more than others it surely has to be Wardancers.

Wood Elf mains say their brokenly OP unit isn't broken - more shocking news at 11. (With this many attacks at that weapon skill and strength, they obviously need at least a points increase, especially because of all the shenanigans they have to hide in this army)

You totally forgot about the additional handweapon in your calculations of the number of attacks!

On the charge, 5 Wardancers + Champion have 21 attacks at AP -2

Ive used them in battlemarch , but they just got shot to knackers really! But the fear factor makes them a magnet,so gives other units some respite.....

I agree , Wardancers are good , much better than before the FAQ . But just as you stated (and I have found out alot of what you mentioned the hard way) they're only good to kill things up to T4 . Above that , you better roll damn good because that 6+ ward save won't keep them alive .  And against (magic) missiles they die fast too .

Wardancers with recent update are definitely playable finally.  But like all Wood Elves units they will get magic missile or shot off the board pretty easy.

What I realized is Wardancers are really good against Bretonnian Knights (not Grail!).  But i agree Wardancers struggle against certain monsters and Behemoths.

you said at 17:40 to use evasive against magic missiles, but that doesnt work right? I know evasive can remove you as a target for shooting, wasting their attack, but I thought with magic missile, but because targeting eligibility is only checked on declaration, the spell still goes off if you come out of line of sight. Means your only option is have good dispels, like the oaken stave and praying for no outclassed, or staying out of all possible lines of sight from the caster

I’d prefer eternal kindred captain w 2 weapons (4A) joining the dancers, 😅 repeating 1s to hit @2pluspodcast 6 wardancers + captain + dance +1 attack 28 attacks 😅 almost 14 killings repeating 1s

Im new to war gaming, starting with the old world. Only played 3 times my 10 wardancers were wiped off the table before i could use them, however in the brief fight they had the 3 remaining killed an enemy cpt and 2 out of 5 cav. So they are strong but also extremely weak. Now i appreciate my lack of knowledge jst what ive seen using them once 😂
