Level Design is a hard and deep topic, with a bunch of factors you must learn and master. In this video, we're going to talk about what those are, and start this series of videos we'll make about level designing!

We take the examples mainly from Unity, but these tricks and the knowledge shred in these videos can be applied to any game engine.

1. This isn't level design, it's environment art
2. In actual level design, gameplay comes first, greyboxing is essential, and prop-spam is generally looked down on

It's a really cool video, but what's kinda bad about it is that you're not talking about level design at all... What you're doing there is level-building. And semi-photorealistic level-building at that. I found that most youtubers making tutorials about Unity mostly teach level-building: adding informations on how a striking element in the scene can help the player find secrets and/or follow the story, for instance, or other informations like that would be really, really cool. Think of gameplay!
EDIT: In a tutorial on level-design, you shouldn't have to talk about rendering (apart from optimization). I mean, I may be wrong but I higly think that.

Apart from that, I enjoyed that video mate!

Sykoo, I am wondering if part of this series you will handle the issue of performance? Like how too many grasses or veggies slow the game down tremendously, and how to batch your textures and models to gain performance to do highly detailed levels.

Make a vid, how a level is actually fun to play from a Gameplay perspective.

Bc you always make vids how to make it look good and your levels look awesome, but what i wish would be more on the gameplay side.

i would rather call it designing good scenes instead of levels, for me level design is something else. I think scene designing fits the topic of the video better. O liked the video and would love to see more of that. I would like to see how you make those scenes in unity. You talked about the theorie behind it, but i'd like to get practical knowledge

I really do appreciate videos like this, however this seems very niche in the realm of open world like level design. Like skyrim or fallout for example. Is it possible for you to touch on level design in reference to 2d games, game mechanics and their interaction with the environment, platformers and how spacing greatly effects gameplay etc.

Really enjoyed this vid man. I want to learn more about performance/optimization, making a level detailed but still have it be optimized. Go into detail with it! Take your time.
