I'm really surprised that the movie was actually rated that low. I thought this movie was an absolute classic.

The Brilliance of casting Robin Williams as a man who is still a boy just cannot be overstated. We lost the legend way too soon.

Saying "just" a pack of wolves makes sense after all the jumanji game put them through which works as foreshadowing for the viewers like what was so bad a wolf pack seems chill by comparison

Knowing Zathura was tied to Jumanji was genuinely the first exposure most of us had to a cinematic universe.

I swear, as a child, I was oblivious to the fact that Jonathan Hyde played both Alan's father and Van Pelt, in how Alan is scared of them both. A little nod to Peter Pan, in which the same actor traditionally played Mr. Darling and Captain Hook.

This movie is simply a zany adventure when you're younger, but when you're an adult, you realize that Alan and his father's relationship is the heart. Alan spent 26 years thinking that his father didn't love him, only to later find out that he did, but didn't know how to articulate it.

Can we agree that Bonnie Hunt's acting, when she sees Alan for the first time and then when they break out the game, is just phenomenal! Pure trauma. No notes.

9:50 it needs to be said also that Robin Williams was just one of those actors that was 38 years old regardless of what he was in. Bicentennial Man, Mrs Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, Jack, Dead Poets Society and Hook. He was acting as an 38 year old thinking he’s still 25, but he’s actually 45 in all of them.

Rest in Peace to the legendary Robin Williams. He really gave heart to all of his roles, and Alan's reaction when he realizes that he's becoming like his father always hits home.

Jumanji genuinely opening up to a scene in the 1800s will never not be funny to me.

15:15 - As of this comment, and this doesn't make it right or anything, 25 gold 1oz african krugerrand coins would be worth about $105,000 dollars. Just for context.

The ‘90s really had some fun action adventure comedies and boy, does this movie get dark!

The fourth?
I didn't even know there was a third.

0:15 Zathura is definitely just a Sci-fi Version of Jumanji 🤷‍♂️

It’s the classic movie from the 90’s that kicked off a space adventure with Kristen Stewart and a trilogy with The Rock, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black that barely has anything to do with this movie at all.

As a kid, it took me ages to realise the hunter and the dad were played by the same actor. It blew my tiny mind when it finally clicked.

Completely forgot Kirsten Dunst was in this. I had a massive crush on her back then.

Honestly the 90s were big on dealing with bullies by beating their asses and it was 100% solid advice. Schools kind of screwed that up with zero tolerance violence policies which targeted victims for responding as bullies know when and where to do shit to get away with it.

I watched this movie several times through the years it always makes me cry when he reunites with his Dad in the end and glad they were able to save Peter and Judy’s parents. They’re the same kids their lives are being rewritten. Lol nobody understand consumer media more than kids. Lol gas enthusiast Billy
