An often overlooked drummer who is one of the best, ever so tasty and solid, creative and original.

Fantastic drummer! I love Pick Withers...and I love that maroon tupperware plate on his head.

Pick leaving the Straits was such a shame musically. Their sound changed after that, he was such a fast and crisp drummer, he makes those first albums for me.

In the sixties, I met Pick in Italy when he was in "The Primitives" I was in another band and we were playing at the same club. Our drummer was out of action when we arrived, having fallen asleep outside our broken down van on the way up from Rome. His entire back was one big blister! Pick said "no problem" and sat in with us for several nights. Great drummer. Nice guy. Good times. Nice to listen to his stories. I have many of my own!

I must get John's book. I saw Dire Straits in 1992 in Wellington, New Zealand. Great gig. I was 19. Memories indeed. Moved to the UK in 2000.

I strongly recommend John Illsley's recently published book My life in Dire Straits. Soo interesting and beautifully written with Mark Knopfler's foreword. Some nice words about Pick as well
