I’ve never worked at a marina or had a boat of my own. But where I used to live, there was a fire department that I was a volunteer for that we had a fire boat. Now contrary to popular belief because the town that we were a part of was so small we didn’t have one of the boats that people usually think of when they think of a fire boat. Most people people when they think of a fire boat, they think of something reminiscent of a converted tugboat or something. You know they think of something like a 70 or 80 foot steel behemoth with multiple water cannons on the front and stuff and so on and so forth.

The place where I lived it was essentially a heavily modified catamaran style pontoon boat.

And one day wow the crew and I were doing some maintenance work on it. Someone came up to us and actually made fun of the fact that the fire boat was so small. We explained that a larger fire boat would quite literally be absolutely useless in the areas where we worked. Not only that but fire boats are very expensive.

One of the individuals who was talking to us, said that you know that couldn’t be possible to which point one of the other individual stated that a larger fireboat can literally run into the millions of dollars in how much money it would cost to purchase. Not only that, but it would also cost thousands of dollars a month just to keep it functional.

It never ceases to amaze me on how a lot of people who are voters even longtime voters tend to not realize just how expensive boats can be. Even if your boat is literally just a little zodiac dinghy.
