The Game NO ONE Can Beat - Prince of Persia (SNES)

Prince of Persia is a legendary game that somehow, someway, every person seems to have some scarring memories from. Maybe that's because of how many consoles this was released on, including Apple 2 (Mac), PC, and NES. With ground breaking animation and ... ground breaking movement (but in a bad way), this game will break you. This is truly a difficult game, and if you were lucky enough to figure out how to beat a single level, the remaining levels pack a bigger and bigger punch the further you go. We're playing the 1992 version on the SNES with some better graphics, but also with ... DOUBLE the levels?

Gotta love how the deep ass insta-kill pit still has spikes at the bottom just to make double sure you're fucked.

I was almost begging for you to quit after you beat it the first time, I couldn't fathom anyone doing it in 2 hours. Going back and getting the good ending is how you earned that GRAND before your name.

13:12 - 13:34 was masterful comedic storytelling through level design. You knock the skeleton down a pit only to realize you have to fight him again. Then you knock him down a deeper pit and think you finally got him when you don't see him on the next screen. However he surprises you at the bottom and is immediately crushed by a trap before you can react. It's what the youngin's would call "absolute cinema". It's possible there were 3 unrelated skeletons instead of the same one each time, but I prefer my interpretation.

I was addicted to this game as a kid and beat it multiple times and loved it through the frustration. I was always sad that my friends told me it sucked but I told myself it was just because they were bad at it. I still think I'm right.

Imagine being the princess trapped in the castle thinking you're gonna get saved; but then the bad guy walks in and goes "Hey, we found Prince Chucklefuck, he died falling down a hole"

Brother out here vouching for turn based rpgs, bless up. God forbid ppl have patience for what is basically a puzzle game

Animation used rotoscoping. The characters movements came from filming a human. The history of the game is actually really cool.

When I played this game as a kid I didnt know about the ledge grab so I never even got the sword at the start.

It wasn't his dad he filmed it was his brother. It was rotoscope stuff. It's why PoP games have such a unique look. I played this game in 2023 start to finish and thought that it was an absolute gem. This is easily one of the better games you never beat in the series imo and I'm stoked to see you play it.

“Games I forgot existed but always want to get around to until I forget again” doesn’t have the same ring but I’m happy Poo is covering my list off anyway :D

You should do Lost Vikings next. Game is punishingly difficult.

Pro Tip: whenever you "press button to continue" the clock counts all your previous deaths against you. But if you exit every time you die, and go to continue from main menu, you go back to your original start time for the most recent level. Do this every time you die, and you'll easily beat the game with 45+ minutes to spare.

Only reason to "press button to continue" is to take advantage of checkpoints on levels 3, 6, 9, 16, 18.

34:37 "Did he just softlock you" had me wheezing LMAOOO that would be so evil

28:15 You may well be the first person in history to grab this invisible ledge... 👏

I really think that understanding that 3.5 inch disks aren’t “floppy” is the key to being old as dirt.

this game would be the ideal game if in hell you had to play a game for eternity

When I was a kid, I beat this game after I got to the final boss, didn't know how to parry, had to ask for help from my older cousin on how to parry a different day, and then had to proceed through the entire game again to beat it because I didn't understand the concept of writing down the passwords.

i once went to a party in college where the entire party was just watching this one guy beat the original Prince of Persia. it was insane. after he beat the game he put on the original arcade of Killer Instinct and started stomping everyone there. little did he know i have probably 1000 hours on Killer Instinct. i mopped the floor with him hahahaha. one of the best parties i've ever been to
