People like Mr. Ravi are truly rare in Mumbai. At a time when many families who own bungalows are selling them to large developers, it's heartening to see someone preserving his family's legacy.

Our heritage deserves to be preserved, and Mr. Ravi is doing a wonderful job.

I am just grateful to these families who havent left their homes such beautiful houses who make our walk on Carter road more pleasurable. They havent given to builder pressures...very grateful...I love the Christmas decorations during Christmas time at this house

My mother's family tree of Rajan, Carter Road, has been traced upto 1717. From the one and only Baptism Register salvaged from the destroyed Church of St.Anne, situated at the present Bandra Bus Depot.

Great to see that someone is still able to preserve the family heritage throughout hundred years. Its sure that the money invested (300rs) would have been so pure and earned - if not, it would not have lasted this long. Thanks Vishal for introducing the old landlords of Mumbai.

I love these old fashioned houses with glossy cool cement floors and high ceilings with ventilators in each room. These remain cool even in heat of June and July. The packed earth grounds teeming with earthworms in the monsoons, maintaining the soil fertility and raising the water table so the plants remain green, all this reminds me of my childhood home. This kind of garden nourishes all kind of fruit trees. Even the soil is red laterite which encourages growth of vegetation native to the western coastal zone of the subcontinent. And such beautiful solid furniture which lasts a long time.

It is great to hear this history of my home town, Bandra. I recently flew to Bombay to sell our flat. I could not live there anymore after living in the US for 38+ years. To the interviewer, a small piece of advice, speak slowly so you do not turn off the viewer. Your voice is not pleasant to the ear.

Such a wonderful episode Vishal! Thank you Mr. Ravi Pereira and God bless your abode! This house is soaked in history and I'm sure each nook and cranny has a story to tell. Wonder how the 200 year old piano sounds, they say old musical instruments are the best. Was that a first edition "My First Book of Classics: Mozart"?! Wow! Also loved his observation that with the plot being this close to the sea, if he were to live on the 22nd floor hypothetically, he'd only see the sea and not greenery. It's hard to believe that there were paddy fields in the so called prime areas of Mumbai not so long ago.

My ancestors owned a bungalow at pali naka but as the family got bigger and space got smaller and maintaining the bungalow got difficult had to redevelop it into a building in the 60s and now there is a 20 floor tower . Hats of to Mr Ravi for maintaining such an old property.
