Going through THIS IS FOR was my first time experiencing a complete TWICE album from beginning to end. I have checked out individual songs before, but sitting with 14 tracks gave me a much better opportunity to understand their musical range, vocal chemistry, personalities, and the different combinations that exist within this nine-member group.
I did not have another TWICE album to use as a reference point, so I approached this project as a completely new chapter in my journey with them. Released during their tenth year together, THIS IS FOR feels like a declaration for the group’s next decade and a gift to the members, ONCE, and anyone who needs encouragement or a reminder of their own strength.
What impressed me most was how many different sides of TWICE I discovered across these 14 tracks. We received confident anthems, bright pop, R&B, summer music, experimental unit combinations, romantic frustration, and emotional reflection. The unit songs were especially helpful because they gave me a closer look at the members before bringing all nine voices back together for the ending.
As my first complete TWICE album, THIS IS FOR gave me a much wider understanding of what this group can do. I could hear the experience and chemistry of a group that has spent a decade together, but I also heard nine artists who are still interested in exploring new combinations and sounds.
