A woman cursed with the most convoluted backstory that would put Hawkman to shame

Donna’s competing with Spiderman for most miserable character.

To me it seems like the biggest issue is that writers can’t decide if Donna should be Wonder Woman character or a Teen Titans character, which is weird because, why can’t she be both? Dick is just as much a Batman character as he is a Teen Titans character. True, she doesn’t have any real prior connection with Diana prior to being a Titan, but that can be fixed by just, you know, having the two actually interact more? If that’s too much to ask, then please DC, just pick a freaking lane already.

There seems to be a divide in place since the beginning. Characters like Dick Grayson and Wally West are much more successful since they spent a good period of time being the actual sidekick and have proved to be able to handle their own solo series. Donna Troy on the other hand was made specifically to be a Teen Titan.

What didn't help is that a lot of people's view on the Titans was shaped by the 2003 show, which left her out entirely. This is also why Garth and Roy Harper tend to get the short end of the stick.

I think they should start involving Cassie and Donna in Wonder Woman/Amazon stuff more often. It's something that weirdly feels like it hasn't been expanded on that much despite Donna growing up on Themyscira. Like, that SHOULD be her home as much as the Titans are.

Honestly I'd love like a Wonder Family series or a Wonder Girls team up series to really play into their character dynamics.

Donna Troy is in that weird space a lot of characters find themselves in of being too recognizable to forget but not popular enough get a lot of consistent focus. Which leads to writers either always trying to fix them over moving their story forward or changing them without explanation. Maybe because they think no one will notice. Other characters with this problem include…
X-23
Redhood
Mr. Freeze
The Sentry
Hob Goblin
The Lizard
Power Girl
The Question
Moon Knight until recently.
And…. Wonder Woman.

At least shes got a badass snazzy costume I love the black/glittering stars leotard always fashionable. Truly timeless.

Personally, I prefer that Donna was an foster orphan, who was saved by Diana from a burning building, taken in by Diana and the Amazons, and then becoming Wonder Girl, until she’s old enough and goes by Troia to her own person.

Even for Cassie sake, I love her original origin where she’s the daughter of Zeus. And became Wonder Girl to fight alongside Wonder Woman.

One of the most underrated heroines in DC that is severly underused in animated series, that's who.

Donna and Hawkman co-founders of the unnecessary convoluted origins club.

Ever feel like her secret super power is just roll with the punches and just outright say she invents new backstories for herself whenever the plot demands it.... Then we never mention her Origin backstory ever again. Joker has Multiple-choice Backstories; Donna's is Schrodinger's Cat quantum physics.

"I... I'm not exactly sure what it was. Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another... If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it be multiple choice! Ha ha ha!"
- The Joker, Killing Joke

"Jeez, and I though I had issues with my origin."
- Joker after watching this video

Donna should have to fight the Titans of Myth in a solo series and they each represent a piece of her or something. Something trippy, psychological and action-packed. Solidify that she is DONNA TROY in the same way Red Hood is Red Hood. Give her an original story, villains, and characters that are unique to her.

its crazy DC thought they needed to expand the backstory beyond: "WW saves infant in fire and takes to amazon island to raise" like simple and to the point, obvious successor character is obvious but nope

I think the Donna Troy origin is so stupid, that I just personallu see her as "the younger Amazon that fights with Wonder Woman sometimes" and ignore all the bizzare retcon. Is it overly simplified and not true to the current canon? Yes. Is it easier to explain who Donna Troy is to none comic readers and casual fans? Yes. Honestly, the same thing I do with Vision, when I just say he's a robot created by Ultron.

1:59 To clear Paula's name, she was only working with the guys cause they had her daughter prisoner and after Wonder Woman saved her she was the token inventor of the team, I kinda miss her in comics.

I do like the idea that Donna is rather like the unsung spirit of DC comics in general:  incoherent, often retconned, but still hanging in there many decades later.  Somehow.

8:16 that wasnt any kind of secret. wolfman’s self insert and donna troy broke up before her relationship with kyle. she was technically on earth when he and the kid even died, she just wasnt in town. not like it wouldve meant anything. they died in a car crash😂. not anything to do with her😂

john bryne easily gave the WORST of the origins for donna. i get he was trying to call back to silver age (despite crapping on everything from wolfman, thx), but dear lord, it did not need to be so damn complicated

We miss ya, Mr. Perez.
