ABOUT BRUNO BAUER
Bruno Bauer was born on September 6, 1809, in Thuringia. He studied under Hegel at the University of Berlin. In 1840, he criticized the Gospel of John, and in 1841, he rejected the historical existence of Jesus. He was expelled from the university by the King of Prussia. During the 1848 Revolution, he founded the Democratic Society. When the revolution collapsed, he abandoned Hegel, became an admirer of Bismarck, and predicted the rise of Russia. He died alone and forgotten in 1882.
