jag-wire and not knowing johnny marr is crazy bro

Johnny Marr is a king. The antithesis of a blues bender.

Fans of 'The Smiths' will be weeping when you said you'd never heard of Johnny Marr. Great video and so glad you've discovered the beauty of a Jaguar. I have the JM Fever Dream Yellow and it's sublime.

"The name Johnny Marr didn't mean anything to me" and my finger immediately started drifting toward 'unsubscribe' 😅😅😅😅

Sad when people don't know Johnny Marr. Good news is it's not too late. They way he fuses arpeggios and single notes, his chord voicings, will never grab attention the way Hendrix, SRV, Satriani, Vai, EVH (et al) did, but how they add color and personality to a song, are kind of unmatched. It can be easy miss just how extraordinary he is as a musician.

Johnny Marr was the guitarist for The Smiths.  If you've heard nothing else by them, you have almost certainly heard at least the guitar intro to "How Soon Is Now" which has been used in an edited form for I think some US TV show, and perhaps other things.  He has played a lot of guitars, so I don't know if he used a Jaguar on that track.  There's a really good interview with him by Dan & Mick of That Pedal Show, if you have almost 2 hours to kill.

Offsets are probably by far some of the most comfortable guitars I’ve ever played ngl. IMO the Johnny Marr signature Jag isn’t a “true Jaguar,” since there’s no Rhythm circuit, but it does come with some different features like the option to run the pickups in parallel.

Johnny Marr is an amazing player.

This dude discovers a lot of things that have been in existence forever.

I’m a black dude and even I know who Johnny Marr is (monster) and the man who I think “owned” the Jaguar when he was on this earth. ROWLAND HOWARD!!!! Those two are guitar heroes of a different kind. They are about chords and ambiance.

“Weirdo Indy guitar category” Whhuuuhhhh! (clutches pearls).

Why can nobody say Jaguar correctly. It’s not jaguire

Probably obvious at this point, but Johnny Marr's signature isn't a very traditional example of a Jaguar. Also, Marr didnt play Jaguars until his Modest Mouse era in the 2000s. No Smiths song had a Jag on it.

I think we’re all begging Mike to listen to more music

My 1st Fender was an original '62 Jaguar. I always wanted a Strat, but I couldn't afford one. This was back in the 70s and to buy used equipment you had to comb through ads in the newspaper classifieds. I know these are things that are unfamiliar to a lot of people these days. Eventually my Jag got stolen and I had to buy my first brand new guitar - a MIJ Strat. The band leader required a "Fender sound". It still breaks my heart when I see a Jag. I miss my guitar...

I’m 51, and grew up with The Smiths. JMs work with the Smiths is great, but I noticed that his later work was really him spreading his wings (so to speak) from Electronica, The The, to his collabs with Hans Zimmer and Modest Mpuse he continues to grow.
I’ve owned Jazzmasters and loved them but I’m very large handed and thought a Jag would just be too small for me, but played one and fell in love.
I’m a big fan of the offsets

I like that perspective. the Jaguar has always been my favorite Fender. and I've always looked at the Strat as the off-set model.

the thing is, johnny never messed with the jaguar until after the smiths. he was mostly playing a ricky 330 and a tele.

Johnny Marr is a guitar school unto himself.

I have a newfound appreciation for the “Jaguire” now.
