Make Your Mountains Massive With a Perspective Blend - Photoshop Tutorial

In this edition of 'Gavin Vs Your shot' I do an exposure blend and perspective blend on a gorgeous image submitted by Jonas Salmonsonn.

If you'd like to see more work from Jonas this is his website https://www.snappitysnap.com

In this completely unrehearsed tutorial I fumble through the process of bringing the mountains closer to the foreground in a kind of 'post-shoot compression' like you'll often see in telephoto images.

I think it turned out great.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thanks for watching

Gavin

Yep, I think you should definitely do a full course on perspective blends. I'd buy it!

This is the first Photoshop video I've watched in 3-4 years, as got out of creating montages etc but needing inspiration to return.... having got into keyboards, synths and learning to create music. Nice and interesting video mate... 'subbed'.
By the way, you have a very good likeness to Keifer Sutherland!!!

For all I really enjoy your location videos, when you are sat down talking techniques etc. you create some absolute magic. Much appreciated they are.

Thanks Gavin, I'm now off to spend months going through my back catalogue playing around 😂

Is this over manipulation? I watch your videos for the humour to lift me up on a bad day. The photography is a bonus. Nothing beats an image straight out of the camera.

Excellent video! Please more of this if you don't mind.

Really helpful Gavin. I photograph lot of golf courses and have used perspective to advantage in the past, so this tutorial will add another dimension to that.

So much I don't know about the editing options in Photoshop. Perspective blending isn't something I would have considered. Tuning my brain to think more laterally about the compositions on location to then give more options for editing the final image. Quite inspiring. Cheers 🙂

That looks Bobby Dazzler that! 😂😂
Great tutorial Gavin definitely something that I could use as this could help with midground too for those of us with dodgy knees to get down low, especially that half split doofer👍

Very interesting and helpful. Well done Gavin and yes I would be interested in a full blown course on this topic.

Cool video. Something I never thought of doing before. I started shooting with a 70-200mm lens and focus stacking to get that compression effect. I’m going to try this on a couple of my existing wide angle lens shots. Thanks for the tutorial. Cheers from Down Under.

Never heard of a perspective blend but I like what you have done here. I’m sure I will give it a try in the near future.

Great tutorial! I’d love to see some really complex examples, like ones featuring forests, meadows, and mountains.

Wow what an amazing opportunity I saw for the first time. I‘ll keep this in mind, thanks for showing Gavin! Greetings from Germany
