A Tiny 808? Roland TR-606 Modded

In which I show the "TR-608" mod by Filippo Samoré, who crammed all the mods you can do into my humble 606. The mod is high-quality and truly enhances the sound engine of the 606 without compromising its handy form factor. It is almost like a TR-808 now, except maybe a little more interesting, because it is still a charmingly shuffling 606 at its core. Contact Filippo: Instagram: thatacidwasntacid

REMEMBER
IF YOU MOD YOUR TR606 YOU MIGHT INVALIDATE THE WARRANTEE

I got well into programming the 606 back in the day. Then came a time when you couldn't give them away and no-one wanted them anymore. Ah wish I still had it!

this is great! the hihats on the 606 are my favourite of any electronic hat sounds

That's a great mod. Fixes all the shortcomings of the original.

Spotted a Korg X-911 and FK-1 in the background there too. :)

You are my favorite actor in the movie "Hackers".

This is so rare to see mods that are actually useful for music making ! Your unit is unbelivable, it's like a holy relic, but in a good way :o

This is what the Akai Tomcat would have sounded like if it wasn't made by Akai.

I got to catch the last couple minutes of this premier after an Organic Chemistry final... Let's just say thanks for for making my day a little better.

I love this! I got an RD6 with the intention to mod. I think it's going to be feeling the business end of my soldering iron this weekend

Wow the kick sounds amazing! All the mods sound great except I’m VERY wary of messing with the hats - decay sure, but the filter mod detracts from the beautiful harsh hissy 606 hats to my ears.

I even have mine modded with an input to the hihat filter so I can turn other sounds into hissy, shrill versions of themselves ❤️
