Just finished lining my DJH B16/3 and the word "tedious" really rings true. Though if you lock in and are patient the results really are worth it

I absolutely fell in love with your fantastic shed layout scene, but as you mentioned earlier your figures have added so much realisim to the scenes with the potential of portraying many varied characters whether they may be from films and TV documentries like the BBC collection series on the BBC IPlayer about the S & D via interviews with the famous and very popular driver " Donald Beale" and his Fireman (sorry his name escapes me) who both drove the 9F,s on a regular basis from Bath to Bournemouth, as part of the Pines express service, and the summer saturday excursion traffic. Just a thought for using with those wonderful detailed figures, and the many British monochrome Films that featured stories of our lives in and around the steam locomotives of our industrial past.

iIf you don`t want a flood of water laying the decal down.....Lay the soaked transfer and backing on a piece of kitchen towel and leave it for a couple of minutes to absorb excess water.

19:06 ideally you’d want to put a soft cloth or suchlike to protect the other side lest you scratch up all that lining

Patience is a virtue and I found it sorely tested with a Sangcheng flying banana. The straight lines are just so long. Biggest test was getting an acceptable result, moving onto the next section and nudging the first bit and spoiling it all. That and chasing an errant number around the bowl of warm water.........

Did you use a varnish to protect and secure the transfers? I've this to do on a scratch built B17. I've got fox transfers and rail match satin varnish, just a little more painting to do first, then a large dollop of courage.

BECOMING PROFESSIONAL !!
Stone age waterslide transfers ! Why not use Professional HMRS (Historical Model Railway Society) Pressfix, or Methfix large sheets, with HUNDREDS of transfers per sheet. Including lining. They have a large range of sheets for all the Big Four & British Railways, and these large sheets work out at a fraction of the cost of stupid water slide. And HMRS transfers will adhere to Matt, Silk or Gloss surfaces without trouble. Available direct from HMRS, a handful of professional model shops, and Gaugemaster - Now known as "MODEL GIANT" right opposite the main entrance to Ford Station in Sussex, with its own car park as well.
