I'd like to see how it'll run on your gen 8 with an axe combo, just to see how much more quiet it'll be.

Great sound test! That was my main concern. Neighbors hate me lol.

I have belt drives on both my rigs. I can tell you I run them a lot looser than you have it in this video. The belt does eat more battery, but running it looser helps. Also high speed runs heat up the belt.

Interesting on a crawler, super quiet 💪🏾💯

I love how quiet that is. I’d love one quiet rig for when I go hiking in state parks. Otherwise I like the motor noise. Helps you know how much power you’re putting into it.

Keep in mind that timing belts don't need to be tight. you'll be surprised at how loose they can be and still work perfectly.

I also think you have the belt pretty tight. Loosen it up a little bit. You can also get the different sized pulleys to get it closer to the original ratio.

I'm still waiting for mine in the post . I want to set it up with the Fusion for super quiet driving on a SCX10.2

I just did this upgrade on my SCX10.1 today. I was being driven crazy by the loud pinion and spur (32p). After upgrade its so dang quiet! I am running a RhinoRC 80a with RhinoRC 1430kv outrunner so the gearing is perfectly fine even now. Its still so slow with absolutely no cogging. I love AM32 esc's with outrunners. If the Exocaged host would have simply swapped the motor to something with more turns I think he would love the setup. And as far as bearings go..... I have been in this hobby since 1979! Bearings is simply normal maintenance to me. Have fun everyone. :)

Thanks for testing. Its awesome how quite ist is.

@jonthomas8487 5 years ago

To keep it lightweight maybe a 3BROS G12 servo

@anonanonskitheanoniest 5 years ago

You should try the MechaPlus belt drive, gives you a lot more reduction.

Great test, very much appreciated. I love a quiet truck and was very curious how much quieter it'd be, and it sounds great.
Also those clutch gearboxes being quite unpopular in comparison to planetary front mounted and all those divorced transmission types, well they have one major advantage of being able to run a belt.
