Ingrid Betancourt spoke on La FM about the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), the victims of kidnapping, and the hearings in which former FARC members have appeared before the transitional justice system. The former hostage referred to the images from the hearings and explained how she felt observing the relationship between some magistrates and those who had been her kidnappers.
During the interview, Ingrid Betancourt questioned the role of the JEP and recalled that she supported the peace process because she hoped that the victims would be at the center, and that there would be truth, justice, reparations, and guarantees of non-repetition.
Betancourt asserted that what hurt her most was not Timochenko's attitude, but the laughter of a magistrate whom, she recounted, she had considered a representative of justice and a defender of the victims.
