If crime was legal I'm stealing furniture, sheds, stocking up on groceries, tvs, and shit. Not murder

Heres a detail people miss:

In the propaganda videos encouraging people to Purge, it says if you're not going to participate, put out blue flowers to show your support.

What it's actually doing is tipping off Purgers that you're inside your house with your guard down, thus, MORE purging.

I love the evolution of “the girl who’s scared of everything” series

seriously tho, i never understood why this family didn’t just have a secret panic room they all stay in PLUS the home security system. if they have that kind of money, they’d have the money to make a panic room & keep all of them accounted for AND in case someone broke in, they’d have the security of being in the safe room so whoever was there could just rob them & dip. also idk if the movies even touched on this but i feel like a lot of rich people would just leave the country for a day to stay safe

We will always support Trin. Seems like she's genuinely traumatized at this point.

trin STILL jumping at a jump scare after having seen this movie loads of times is so funny to me

I just realized that this family has this super expensive security system if they can afford that then they can afford a one day vacation in another country

if crime was legal for a day, I'd be at the bank, the grocery store, the clothing stores, electronic stores, furniture stores, etc. Murder wouldn't even have crossed my mind.

I'm glad the sequels expanded on the societal impact this would have. Like, ALL crime is permitted, and I know they were on a budget, but the concept deserves more exploration than "Home invasion for lulz" which we can go and see in so many other movies.

Rough franchise if you ask me. My favorite moment is the mom hitting the blonde woman with the shotgun and slamming her face on the glass table.

2:40 I'd say that rape is worse than murder. If you're dead you're no longer traumatized, but a lot of people don't ever get over being violated. It sticks with them the rest of their lives and is therefore the worst thing to do to someone.

20:48 That's what they SAY the point is, but they lied as conservatives always do. The point is poor people dying.

As for this movie, I never understood the "It's technically legal for the protagonists to kill the bad guys and we STILL won't let them do it" writing decision. I didn't actually watch the sequels because this one disappointed me so much with that, but I'm still gonna say it's a wimpy franchise.

nah the day i hear “crime is legal” i WILL be at the bank with 20 duffle bags and the safes WILL be EMPTY

Him: "Pls let me purge 🥺🤭"
Trin: "Noor 😛 I won't let you purge 😆"

100% agree about the way it’s all about unaliving folks and not like... idk robbing a bank or smth or like doing home reno without a permit lol

“How can you talk about filth when your hair is so greasy” is CRAZY Trin😭😭😭

I imagine if there was an actual purge a bunch of people would protest by committing crimes on days that weren’t the purge like I don’t expect everyone to just be fine with the whole thing

This is a crazy film franchise!
I remember watching THE FOREVER PURGE, where a landowner and his family fight for their lives when residents in Texas don't want The Purge to end, anytime soon.

the purge is what happens when an entire movie is written based off one "what if" scenario without any real thought to what would actually happen in reality lmao, it is a fun concept but there are soooo many plot holes. i loved your commentary, 12:30-13:13 killed me lmaooo

There was a prequel, The First Purge, released in 2018, showing the origins of how The Purge was created in the first place.

I’d like to think that everyone in my area would just stay home during a purge, I just couldn’t imagine my neighbours going around and killing people, I feel like there’d be loads of people robbing stores though, we’d probably be in an economic crisis
