🧭 Episode Summary
In the aftermath of "D-Day," the Normandy landings of June 6, 1944, a spirit of liberation swept through France.
Eager to take action, the various resistance groups emerged from the shadows and harassed the Germans.
The battle of Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte, from June 13 to 15, 1944, was the first major open confrontation between the Vercors resistance group (Drôme/Isère) and the German forces stationed in Grenoble.
Will the young French volunteers rise to the occasion?
In this second episode, we retrace the day of June 14 and the beginning of June 15, cross-referencing maps, testimonies, and reenactments. Veterans such as Marc Serratrice, Robert Pitoulard, Marin Dentella, Marcel Peyronnet, and Roland Bechmann provide us with a rare memory of this battle.
🎨 Thanks to the Maison du Patrimoine in Villard-de-Lans for lending G. Boutin's watercolors.
