I'm not a heavy drinker but the day he was murdered I got drunk.I haven't been drunk since. It affected me horribly. He was still fighting the fight while many of us black people went on about our daily business. Meanwhile he was still be persecuted with all our weight on his shoulders! I still cry I still cry. I'm in the fight to and I will never stop until it is my time to leave here!

his book is on audible now. I read it in HS...man I was so captivated by Huey and Malcolm I quit sports to pursue engineering. Now I mentor young brothers showing them the path to STEM is much easier than they believe. Im doing my part in the revolution.

His eyes. You can feel his pain also the courage that he had in his eyes.

The fact that Dr Huey was illiterate as a teen yet went on to earn a PhD and change the American landscape by starting the BPP and incorporating the breakfast programme that has helped millions and millions of children, amongst MANY other things, and he never lived to see his 50th earth strong just shows us what an amazing man he was. To go from being systemically ignored by society, to a revolutionary threat to America, and by extension the world, while enacting sweeping change will never not blow my mind. Rest in Peace, Huey P. Thank you for everything.

“You can kill my body, and you can take my life but you can never kill my soul. My soul will live forever!”
🌹🌹🌹Huey P. Newton 🌹🌹🌹

This guy is a hero,
He's well educated,
He's very polite,
Stands up for his rights,
Stands up for the rights of others,
Speaks out against oppressors and racists,
Gone but not forgotten!

I’m not african american nor even american but i can only feel profound admiration for this man. Rip

I was a little girl when Huey was murdered, I always loved how they stood for our people, cared for the community, made changes when the government wouldn't give us any resources or options for a better living. We still need our history told today, better education, Healthcare, quality of life, equity, and safe policing. Things have gotten better, thanks to the BPP, they risked their lives for us to live better, and today we throw it away for riches, and the love of material items. We still have a long way to go, happy this is on Youtube so today's generation can understand the struggle.

R.I.P. to filmmaker and television producer Henry Hampton, who made this interview happen, he was the chief producer of the critically acclaimed PBS documentary series, "Eyes On The Prize" 1 and 2 series, "The Great Depression" series, "Malcolm X: Make It Plain" among others. Parts of this interview appears in "Eyes on the Prize 2". HH work is deeply missed by all of us who have a great interest in history. Bobby Seale co-founder of "The Black Panther Party" said during a book signing that I attended, that Huey P. Newton was clean and sober when this important interview was conducted.

These type of men are the real Gangsters these type of men really stood for something R.I.p Huey P Newton💪💪💪😎😎😎

He sat for this interview on May 23rd, 1989...murdered on August 22nd, 1989.  91 days.

Such a brilliant, visionary man, now I see why they were afraid of him. Rest in peace Chairman🙏

Thank you for posting this. So much information about the Black Panthers was either distorted or unsaid. I appreciate all of the members of the party and respect their efforts, successes, bravery and boldness to stand up, when so many of us find it more comfortable to just remain bent over taking it, and crying in silence. We need more real life heroes such as these people mentioned in this video, who are willing, able and active in making positive things happen for our communities and our people. Again, thank you for posting this.

RIP Malcolm X Fred Hampton Huey P Newton they were fearless freedom fighters

True legendary Black Panther in his own Right.  Rest in Peace Huey P. Newton.

May Dr. Huey Newton’s soul Rest In Power. You etched in the memories of the people you gave your life and works for. ✊🏿

5:56 "the police were impolite and they were very fast to kill a Black for minor offenses" What an understatement, and how powerful of him to make it. Rest in peace and power Dr. Newton. Thank you for your leadership, courage, tenacity, hard work, brilliance. It's an honor to hear you speak. You inspire us and are still needed today (2025)

The media made this man seem like he was a racist and a thug but he was so much the opposite. Great leader and human.

Our brother was brilliant. I was sad when this interview ended. I give thanks to all those who walked before us, clearing a wider path for the future of our people. Peace.

Those eyes were so darn telling....of so much. His posture, demeanor and overall articulation is flat-out brilliant and admirable. This man is a GD legend! RIP to the original man with the plan - Mr. Huey P. Newton. 😔
